Adile Naşit, whose birth name was Adela Özcan, was the daughter of Naşit Bey, a figure in Turkish theatre, and the artist Amelya Hanım. Her family lived in an environment deeply immersed in the arts, and this atmosphere strengthened Adile Naşit’s interest in a career in the performing arts. After completing her primary and secondary education, at the age of 14 she joined the İstanbul City Theatre Child Theatre and began performing on stage. During this period, she absorbed influences from both traditional Turkish theatre and Western theatrical traditions, blending the two to shape her acting career.
Adile Naşit’s theatre career began in 1944 with her joining the İstanbul Şehir Tiyatrosu. There, she took on various roles in different troupes and honed her acting skills. Her entry into cinema came in 1947 with the film Yara, directed by Seyfi Havaeri. In the 1950s, she worked with various theatre groups and gained recognition in cinema during the 1970s. Adile Naşit became widely known to audiences for her role as Hafize Main in the Hababam Sınıfı series. In 1976, she won the “Best Actress” award at the Antalya Altın Orange Film Festival for her performance in the film İşte Hayat.

In Adile Naşit’s career in theatre and cinema, the “mother” characters she portrayed stand out as defining elements. She played maternal roles in numerous productions, most notably in the Hababam Sınıfı series, earning widespread recognition from audiences. In addition, during the 1980s, she became beloved by children for her role as “Masalcı Teyze” (Storytelling Aunt) in the TRT children’s program Uykudan Önce. This program helped solidify her popularity both in the entertainment world and among young viewers.

In 1950, Adile Naşit married theatre artist Ziya Keskiner, with whom she had one son, Ahmet. However, her son Ahmet passed away at the age of 16 due to an illness. This loss created a profound void in Adile Naşit’s life and made her more compassionate toward children. Her husband Ziya Keskiner died in 1982. In 1983, she married Cemal İnce in her second marriage. The death of her son Ahmet deeply influenced her portrayal of maternal figures in her artistic career.
In the 1980s, Adile Naşit was diagnosed with colon cancer and fought the illness for several years. She passed away on 11 December 1987 in Istanbul. Her funeral was held on 13 December 1987 at İstanbul Şişli Camii.
