He served extensively in the foreign affairs bureaucracy, acted as Deputy Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, and also assumed the presidency of [Fenerbahçe Sports Club](/en/detay/fenerbahce-sports-club-museum-11382/llms.txt). Throughout different phases of his life, Erozan took on roles as a diplomat, politician, teacher, lawyer, and sports administrator; he entered public consciousness not primarily through his official positions but through the substance of his work. ### **Early Life and Education** Born in 1935, Agâh Erozan began his career in public service after graduating from the Faculty of Political Science at Ankara University. His academic training equipped him with expertise in law, politics, and administrative management. Following graduation, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and undertook a series of diplomatic assignments over many years. ### **Diplomatic and Bureaucratic Years** Erozan participated in multilateral negotiations involving Türkiye’s relations with Europe, particularly within platforms such as the European Economic Community and NATO. During this period, he contributed to numerous technical studies aimed at strengthening Türkiye’s political and economic standing in Europe. After serving in both central ministries and overseas missions, he continued his bureaucratic experience through political office in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. ### **Political Ban and Its Aftermath** In the wake of political changes in Türkiye during the 1960s, Erozan, like many other politicians, faced a political ban. Following this period, he entered the business world with Altın İplik ve Çorap A.Ş. and also worked as a literature and history teacher at Çamlıca Girls’ High School and Kadıköy Girls’ High School (1967–1969). He practiced law as well. Although he joined the Justice Party in April 1974 after the lifting of his political ban, he did not return to active politics. ### **Presidency of Fenerbahçe Sports Club** Sport also held an important place in Erozan’s life. A Fenerbahçe supporter since childhood, he was admitted as a club member in 1957 and was elected president of [Fenerbahçe Sports Club](/en/detay/fenerbahce-mens-basketball-team-a4beb/llms.txt) on 6 July 1958 with the support of the Kadıköy Group. In a statement during this period, he emphasized the public visibility of the presidency: “How big Fenerbahçe has become. I became Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, and my photo appeared in the press once a week. But once I joined Fenerbahçe, my photos appeared daily.” During his presidency, Fenerbahçe became the first champion of the newly established Turkish Football League in 1959 and the first Turkish team to advance in European competitions. Erozan supported women’s sports, backing the women’s volleyball team to a national championship and the women’s basketball team to an Istanbul championship. He handed over the presidency to Medeni Berk following the elections on 6 March 1960. Even after his time in prison, he maintained his connection to the club. ### **Family Life and Death** Agâh Erozan married Ayşe Neriman Hanım in 1948 and had two sons: Ahmet Kamil Erozan (Ambassador and Member of Parliament) and Mehmet Adil Erozan (cinematographer).
