He has worn jerseys for various German clubs as well as in France’s Ligue 1 and has represented Germany at various youth national team levels. ### **Personal Information** Nübel stands 1.93 metres tall and weighs 88 kilograms. He is right-footed and wears size 46 shoes. His zodiac sign is Libra. His management is handled by Siebert & Backs. #### **Early Life and Youth Career** Nübel was born on 30 September 1996 in the city of Paderborn, located in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. He spent his early years in the Salzkotten-Tudorf region with his family. He began his football career in the youth academy of TSV Tudorf between 2003 and 2005 before transferring to the youth setup of SC Paderborn 07 in 2005. For much of his youth career, he played not as a goalkeeper but as an attacker or field player. He scored goals playing as a forward up to the U14 level but switched to goalkeeping due to a shortage of players in that position within his club. Although he initially found standing in goal boring, he adapted quickly to the role and, thanks to his talent, rapidly progressed through the younger age groups. Due to similarities in his playing style to Manuel Neuer, his teammates at Paderborn nicknamed him “Manu”. ### **Professional Club Career** #### **SC Paderborn 07 and FC Schalke 04** Nübel was promoted to the senior squad of SC Paderborn 07 for the 2014/2015 season but did not make any appearances that season. In 2015 he transferred to the reserve team of FC Schalke 04, where he played 24 league matches in the Regionalliga West. He made his professional debut at the senior level in the final matchweek of the 2015/2016 season, coming on as a substitute in the 90th minute during Schalke’s 4-1 victory over Hoffenheim. In his first six starts, he conceded only four goals and achieved an 80% save rate. During the 2017/2018 season, he began to receive more opportunities due to an injury to first-choice goalkeeper Ralf Fährmann and completed his first Bundesliga match without conceding a goal in the final match of the season against Eintracht Frankfurt. In the second half of the 2018/2019 season, he was named starting goalkeeper by then-head coach [Domenico Tedesco](/en/detay/domenico-tedesco-84f84/llms.txt) in a 2-1 win against Wolfsburg and subsequently became the club’s first-choice goalkeeper. Prior to the 2019/2020 season, at just 22 years old, he was appointed captain of Schalke 04 by new head coach David Wagner. In his 44 Bundesliga starts for Schalke, he kept 10 clean sheets, achieving a 23% clean sheet rate. However, in the 15th matchday against Eintracht Frankfurt, he received a red card after kicking the ball into the chest of opponent Mijat Gacinovic and was suspended for four matches. During this suspension, he relinquished the starting goalkeeper position back to Ralf Fährmann and lost his place in the starting eleven for the final six matches of the season. While serving his suspension, he officially announced his transfer to FC Bayern Munich, effective from the 2020/2021 season. #### **FC Bayern Munich** Nübel joined FC Bayern Munich on a free transfer on 1 July 2020, signing a contract valid until 30 June 2025. He entered competition for the starting position with Manuel Neuer, widely regarded as one of the world’s best goalkeepers. During his first season at the club in 2020/2021, he received limited playing time and appeared in only four official matches: the DFB-Pokal against 1. FC Düren on 15 October 2020, the UEFA Champions League against Atlético Madrid on 1 December 2020, the UEFA Champions League against Lazio Roma on 17 March 2021, and the Bundesliga match against SC Freiburg on 15 May 2021. Despite his limited minutes, he won the Bundesliga title with Bayern Munich in 2021. His contract with FC Bayern Munich was later extended until 30 June 2029. #### **AS Monaco (Loan)** In order to secure more playing time, Nübel joined French club AS Monaco on a two-year loan deal ahead of the 2021/2022 season. In his first season in Ligue 1 (2021/2022), he played every one of Monaco’s 38 league matches, keeping 11 clean sheets and playing a key role in the club finishing third in the league and qualifying for the UEFA Champions League. He maintained his consistency in his second season (2022/2023), appearing in all 38 league matches and keeping nine clean sheets. #### **VfB Stuttgart (Loan)** In summer 2023, after returning to Bayern Munich, Nübel was loaned to VfB Stuttgart for one year due to Manuel Neuer’s recovery and return to action. During the 2023/2024 season, he delivered an impressive performance for Stuttgart, keeping 10 clean sheets in his appearances. He played a vital role in helping Stuttgart, under head coach Sebastian Hoeneß, finish second in the Bundesliga and qualify for the UEFA Champions League. Following this consistent display, his loan contract with Stuttgart was extended for an additional two years. #### **Beşiktaş JK Transfer (2026)** By July 2026, with Nübel having played only four official matches for Bayern Munich over six years, his departure from the club became a topic of discussion. In summer 2026, a preliminary agreement was reached between Nübel and Turkish Süper Lig club Beşiktaş JK. Under the terms of the agreement, Bayern Munich will receive a net transfer fee of up to seven million euros, plus potential bonuses of up to five million euros depending on performance-related conditions. A notable detail in the transfer involves Nübel’s contract termination. With three years remaining on his Bayern contract (until 2029), during which he earned approximately 11 million euros annually, Nübel requested a severance payment amounting to millions of euros. It was reported that Bayern Munich would cover the difference between his salary at Beşiktaş and his Bayern salary as compensation. Bayern’s desire to restructure the squad ahead of training camp starting 20 July 2026, combined with Beşiktaş’s threat to pursue another goalkeeper, accelerated the transfer under these conditions.
