## Article Content

**Ali Jadallah** is a Palestinian photojournalist who has been working for Anadolu Agency in [Gaza](/en/detay/israilin-gazze-seridine-yonelik-saldirilari-2025-0/llms.txt) since 2015. He has primarily documented daily life, conflict conditions, and the impact of war on the civilian population in the [Gaza Strip](/en/detay/israilin-gazze-seridine-yonelik-saldirilari-mar-20/llms.txt) through photography.

### **Photojournalism Activities**

Jadallah has been documenting the social and humanitarian conditions in [Gaza](/en/detay/israilin-gazze-seridine-yonelik-saldirilari-2025-2/llms.txt) for over 15 years through photojournalism. His work is based on direct on-the-ground reporting, especially during periods of conflict. The destruction caused by attacks in [Gaza](/en/detay/israilin-gazze-seridine-yonelik-saldirilari-2025-5/llms.txt), civilian casualties, healthcare conditions, and the humanitarian crisis form the central focus of his photographic output.

During the 2018–2019 period, Anadolu Agency photojournalist Ali Jadallah covered the “Great March of Return” protests in [Gaza](/en/detay/israilin-gazze-seridine-yonelik-saldirilari-mar-17/llms.txt) and was injured multiple times during Israeli military interventions. In March 2018, he was wounded in the right hand by shrapnel; in June 2018, he was shot in the left hand by a live bullet; in May 2019, he was hit in the head by a tear gas canister; and on 30 August 2019, he sustained a head injury from a rubber-coated metal bullet. After the last incident, he was hospitalized, received stitches on his head, and suffered prolonged health complications.

### **Post-7 October 2023 Period**

In the early days of the intense attacks that began on 7 October 2023, his family home was targeted; in this attack, he lost his father, two siblings, and three cousins. His mother, who was undergoing dialysis, was rescued alive from the rubble with serious injuries. Due to impossible conditions, Jadallah was only able to recover the bodies of his family members three days later. His wife, children, and mother were evacuated from [Gaza](/en/detay/israilin-gazze-seridine-yonelik-saldirilari-mar-36/llms.txt) and brought to Türkiye; Jadallah remained in Gaza to continue his photojournalism work.

### **Publications and Documentation Work**

Ali Jadallah’s photographs form the visual foundation of the Anadolu Agency publications *Kanıt (The Evidence)* and *Tanık (The Witness)*. These works have been used as documentary evidence on international platforms and in legal proceedings. One of Jadallah’s photographs was presented to the public by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly.

### **Exhibitions**

Ali Jadallah, together with Anadolu Agency photojournalist Mustafa Hassona, participated in the exhibition *Sessiz Lens (Silent Lens)*. The exhibition, held at the Turkish Photography Foundation Art Gallery, displayed photographs taken in Gaza and awarded international prizes. The works revolve around themes of resistance, suffering, and hope.

### **Awards**

Ali Jadallah has received numerous awards for his photojournalism:

- **World Press Photo**: Won an award in the “Story” category in 2025.
- **Siena International Photo Awards**: Won “Photo of the Year” in both 2024 and 2025; also achieved first place in the “Storytelling”, “Documentary”, and “Photojournalism” categories.
- **International Photography Awards (IPA)** and **Picture of the Year (POY)**: Received various rankings.
- **The Bayeux Calvados-Normandy Award**: Recognized in the photography category.
- Won first place in the “Portfolio (Storytelling)” category at the **Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award** (HIPA), held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Due to being unable to leave Gaza, his wife Dua Isavi accepted the award on his behalf.

- In 2025, he was awarded the **Republic of Türkiye Presidency Culture and Art Grand Award** for his contributions to photography. Ali Jadallah participated in the award ceremony on 18 December 2025 via a video message from Gaza. His wife Dua Isavi and children accepted the award on his behalf from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Ali Jadallah’s photographs have been featured in year-end selections by international media outlets including Time, US News, The Atlantic, and CNN, and have appeared as cover images in various print publications.
