Altay Bayındır was born on April 14, 1998, in the Osmangazi district of Bursa. He began his football career as a goalkeeper in Bursa, the city where he was born and raised. In 2015, at the age of 17, he took his first step into professional football with MKE Ankaragücü. In 2019, Bayındır signed a contract with FENERBAHÇE A.Ş., and in 2023, he transferred to Manchester United. He continues his career at Manchester United.
Early Career
Bayındır began his football career in Bursa, playing for the youth teams of Bursaspor (2007-2011), TSE Arabayatağı Spor (2011-2012), Bursa Yolspor (2012-2013), and MKE Ankaragücü (2013-2015). He was officially registered as a player in 2007 while playing for Bursaspor. Between 2008 and 2014, his license type was amateur. Bayındır joined MKE Ankaragücü’s youth team in 2013 and signed his first professional contract with the club in 2015. He played his first match in the Süper Lig on November 30, 2018, in a game between MKE Ankaragücü and Çaykur Rizespor.
In 2019, he signed a contract with Fenerbahçe A.Ş. During his time at the club, he played a total of 145 matches, accumulating 13,000 minutes on the field. After spending four years at Fenerbahçe, he transferred to the English Premier League club Manchester United. He played his first match for the club on January 28, 2024, in an FA Cup game against Newport County. In the match between Manchester United and Arsenal on January 12, 2025, Bayındır played an important role in his team's advancement to the next round by saving two penalties.
Altay Bayındır won the TFF 2. League title with MKE Ankaragücü in the 2016-2017 season. He lifted the Türkiye Cup with Fenerbahçe in the 2022-2023 season. He lifted the England Cup with Manchester United in 2024.
National Team Career
Altay Bayındır played his first match for the national team in the Turkey U-17 category on August 28, 2014, against Greece. He made 1 appearance for the U-19 team, 2 appearances for the U-20 team, and 10 appearances for the U-21 team. In 2020, Bayındır was called up to the senior national team for the first time. He made his debut for the Turkish national team on May 27, 2021, in a match against Azerbaijan.

As of 2025, Altay Bayındır continues his career wearing the number 1 jersey for Manchester United and the number 12 jersey for the Turkish national team.
