CerModern Center for the Arts

CerModern is an art center and cultural space located in the capital of Türkiye, Ankara, that exhibits works from modern art and hosts various cultural events under house. Opened in 2010, museum was revitalized as a contemporary art gallery through the restoration of the historic Cer Workshops. CerModern serves as a hub that bridges painting, statue, photograph, and video arts with other artistic disciplines, aiming to connect modern art with the public.

CerModern is rooted in the Cer Workshops, constructed between 1926 and 1927 during the nationalization of Türkiye’s railway system. These workshops are historic structures representing Ankara’s industrial-era architecture. In the 2000s, restored by Culture and the Ministry of Tourism, the buildings were repurposed as an art gallery.

As a venue for exhibiting modern art, CerModern draws attention through its aesthetic and functional design. The exhibition spaces feature minimalist architecture and are illuminated to facilitate meaningful engagement between visitors and the artworks. The center aims to provide a unique atmosphere for each exhibition by showcasing works from diverse artists.

CerModern was featured in a Forbes magazine article published on 29 January 2025 titled “10 Amazing Under-The-Radar Turkish Museums,” noted for housing one of Türkiye’s most compelling modern art collections and creatively displaying them within a restored train station.
