[Deniz Güçer](/en/detay/deniz-gucer-8ce2f/llms.txt) is a Turkish journalist, author and public administrator born in 1973. She began her professional career in journalism in 1992 and has worked at various media outlets including [Anadolu Agency](/en/detay/anadolu-agency-c0ad9/llms.txt), Milliyet, Star, Vatan and Akşam newspapers. In 2009 she won the TGC Sedat Simavi Journalism Award and in 2015 became the first female president of the [Radio and Television Journalists Association](/en/detay/radio-and-television-supreme-council-rtuk-7c019/llms.txt). In 2021 she was elected as a member of [Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK)](/en/detay/radyo-ve-televizyon-ust-kurulu-rtuk-40289/llms.txt). **On 14 November 2025 she was elected as Deputy Chair of&#32;**[RTÜK](/en/detay/radyo-ve-televizyon-ust-kurulu-rtuk-40289/llms.txt)**, becoming the first woman to hold this position in the institution’s history.**

### **Early Life and Education**

Deniz Güçer was born in 1973. She completed her secondary education at Ankara High School. She graduated from the Department of Journalism at Istanbul University Faculty of Communication in 1995.

In 2017 she began her postgraduate studies at the Department of Military History within the War History Major of the Alparslan Institute of Defense Sciences at the National Defense University. She earned her master’s degree in 2020 with a thesis titled “The National and International Implications of the Turkish Army’s Withdrawal to the East of the Sakarya River During the War of Independence”.

In 2021 she was admitted to the doctoral program at the same university’s Alparslan Institute of Defense and National Security, Department of Military History within the War History Major. She completed her doctoral dissertation in 2024 titled “Turkish-British Propaganda Warfare During the National Struggle Period”. She became the first woman to graduate from this program.

### **Journalistic Career**

Güçer began her journalism career in 1992 at the Istanbul Regional Directorate of Anadolu Agency. In 1994 she joined the Ankara bureau of Milliyet newspaper.

In 1999 she joined the founding team of [Star Newspaper](/en/detay/journalism-f7e5d/llms.txt) and served as a reporter covering the Presidency and Parliament. During this period she published political behind-the-scenes articles under the title “The 551st Member of Parliament”.

In 2004 she moved to Vatan Newspaper and later to Akşam Newspaper. In both publications she worked as a parliamentary reporter, political columnist and producer of weekly interviews. Following the closure of the Vatan Newspaper Ankara bureau in 2014 she assumed the role of General Director of Broadcasting at TV 6.

In 2009 she won the Turkish Journalists Association Sedat Simavi Journalism Award for her article “The First Lady in the Center” published in Akşam Newspaper.

### **Media and Publishing Activities**

In addition to her journalistic work, Deniz Güçer has also worked in television and radio presenting. She has hosted programs including “Buradan Bakınca”, “Meclis Taksi”, “Basın Kulisi” and “Kravatsız Siyaset”. She has produced and presented various programs on TRT Haber Radio, Radyo 1 and Polis Radyosu.

She has also been a columnist for the Etikhaber website. She is the author of the book “Tips for Those Who Want to Become a Member of Parliament”, published by Alfa Yayınları.

In 2015 she was elected president of the Radio and Television Journalists Association, becoming the association’s first female president. She held this position for two years.

### **Political and Institutional Roles**

In 2016 she began serving as Chief Advisor for Media Affairs to Devlet Bahçeli, the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP).

Dr. Güçer was elected Deputy Chair of [Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK)](/en/detay/radyo-ve-televizyon-ust-kurulu-rtuk-40289/llms.txt) on 14 November 2025. She is the first woman to be elected to this position.

Following her election, Güçer stated in her assessment: “With the experience and vision of our governing body, we will further advance our goal of becoming one of the country’s exemplary institutions in the field of broadcasting.”
