Ambassador Erdeniz Şen is a Turkish diplomat who passed away on May 19, 2025, during his tenure as the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Valetta.
Duties at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
After graduating from Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences in 1996, he started his career as a professional officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey in the same year. Şen held various positions within the central organization of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and served as Deputy Director General for Foreign Policy Coordination with the title of Envoy. He also served at various levels within the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey and the Office of the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
Within the scope of his overseas representation duties, he undertook various diplomatic duties at the embassies in Bahrain, Rome, and Washington. Between 2019 and 2022, he served as the Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Toronto. On December 9, 2022, he was appointed as the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Valetta (Malta) and presented his letter of credence to the President of Malta, George Vella, on February 23, 2023.
Academic Studies
Parallel to his professional career, Şen also continued his academic studies, and obtained a master's degree from the International Relations Department of Gazi University. He participated in the NATO Defense College Senior Course. Towards the end of his life, he was continuing his doctoral studies at the Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences, where he had graduated.
Şen, who passed away while on duty, is remembered for the duties he carried out at various levels in the Turkish foreign service and for his understanding of institutional responsibility that he represented.
