The Fair-Tale Museum, opened in November 2017 by Kartal Municipality, is Türkiye's first museum dedicated to fairy tales. It is curated by poet and writer Sunay Akın, while the museum design was created by stage and set designer Ayhan Doğan. Designed in a pop-up book format, the structure aims to encourage children to develop a habit of reading books and enhance their imagination and creativity. It also serves as a shared cultural space for people of all ages.

Architecture and Exhibition Layout
The Fair-Tale Museum is structured in a layout reminiscent of the pop-up scenes in fairy tale books. Among the objects on display in the museum are toys, books, first editions and illustrations of historical value. A significant portion of the exhibited materials consists of original works obtained by Sunay Akın from collectors in Türkiye and abroad.
Exhibited Works
The museum houses numerous works reflecting the historical development of Turkish and world fairy tales. Hans Christian Andersen's first statue in Türkiye is displayed in a special location in the museum's library section. In addition, statues of iconic fairy tale characters such as Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White and Nasreddin Hodja are located inside the museum and in the garden. These elements offer a visual and educational experience, especially for children.
Open Space and Social Events
The museum's spacious garden is complemented by relaxation areas set among trees, a café, and an event stage. Regular fairy tale readings, theatre performances, talks, and open-air events are held here. Especially during the summer months, it becomes a cultural and artistic meeting point for children and families.
Workshops and Educational Activities
The theatre hall and workshop units within the museum are used for various activities for participants of all ages. These activities, conducted under the guidance of expert educators and writers from the literary world, both support creative development and foster literary awareness.
