# Hatice Altuğ

> Hatice Altuğ (b. 1978) is a Turkish physicist and academic who works in the fields of nanophotonics biosensors and optical physics. She completed her undergraduate education in physics at Bilkent University in Türkiye and earned a doctorate in Applied Physics from Stanford University. She served as a faculty member at Boston University in the United States for part of her career and later worked as a professor at the Institute of Bioengineering at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland.

[Hatice Altuğ](/en/detay/hatice-altug-d500a/llms.txt) is a Turkish physicist and academic who works in the fields of nanophotonics and optical biosensors. ### **Education and Academic Career**

Hatice Altuğ completed her undergraduate studies in 2000 at the Department of Physics at Bilkent University. She then moved to the United States to pursue her master’s and doctoral studies in the Department of Applied Physics at [Stanford University](/en/detay/universite-4/llms.txt). She received her PhD from [Stanford University](/en/detay/optical-science-4aa88/llms.txt) in 2007.

Following her doctoral studies, she continued her academic career at Boston University, where she served as a faculty member in the Department of [Electrical and Computer Engineering](/en/detay/electrical-and-electronics-engineering-5cf6a/llms.txt) from 2007 to 2013. In 2013, Altuğ moved to EPFL in Switzerland, where she continues her research as a professor and leads the BIOS laboratory.
