Origin

Tekrim has entered Turkish from the Arabic word tekrīm (تكريم). This term is derived from the root kerem (كرم), meaning “to be honorable and valuable.” In Arabic, the word conveys the sense of attributing value and elevating someone, and it was used in Ottoman Turkish within the same semantic framework.
