A graduate of the 135th class of the Army War College, Gülova served in various units across different regions of Türkiye throughout his career. In the final phase of his service, he was stationed as the logistics support commander of the Şırnak Akçay Brigade. He graduated from the 135th class of the Army War College and began his service in the Turkish Land Forces in 1984 with the rank of second lieutenant. From the early years of his career, he served in various units across different regions of Türkiye, assuming command and administrative roles.[^2] ### Military Career During his service, Gülova was posted in Ağrı, Doğubayazıt, Edremit, Kars, Manisa, and Şırnak. He was promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel in 2006 and subsequently requested assignment to Şırnak. During field activities carried out by the [Baykar](/en/detay/baykar-teknoloji-5936f/llms.txt) R&D team within the 6th Motorized Infantry Brigade of Akçay, Gülova provided logistical support within the scope of his duties.[^3] ### Martyrdom Melih Gülova was killed in action during an attack in the Güçlükonak district of Şırnak on 10 June 2007. In the same incident, Major Ramazan Armutçuoğlu and Private Hasan Güreşen also lost their lives. His funeral was held with a military ceremony in Manisa, after which he was laid to rest.[^4] ### Memorial and Legacy The memory of Melih Gülova is preserved through various commemorative initiatives. A monument and bust in his honor have been erected in the Şehzadeler district of Manisa. In 2015, the Şehzadeler Municipality carried out maintenance and landscaping work around the monument.[^5] ### Institutions Named After Him Following his martyrdom, Melih Gülova’s name was bestowed upon several educational institutions.
