Siirt DENEYAP Technology Workshop

Siirt DENEYAP Technology Workshop was established in 2022 under the coordination of Türkiye Technology Team Foundation (T3 Foundation), in joint implementation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Industry and Technology, and TÜBİTAK. This workshop was founded within the Siirt Youth Center as part of the nationwide “100 DENEYAP Technology Workshops in 81 Provinces” project. Its aim is to provide free technology-focused education to middle and high school students, thereby cultivating qualified human resources to contribute to Türkiye’s indigenous and national technology initiative.

Establishment and Opening Process

The opening of the Siirt DENEYAP Technology Workshop took place on 4 September 2022 with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, simultaneously across 27 provinces as part of the Karadeniz 2022 program. The opening ceremony in Siirt was attended by Siirt Acting Governor Fatih Kurt, Siirt Director of Youth and Sports Hayati Kısacık, and various local officials. With the opening, the physical infrastructure and human resource structure of the workshop were completed, and educational activities commenced.

Educational Program and Scope

The educational program conducted at DENEYAP Workshops lasts a total of 36 months and is divided into three stages: e-exam, practical exam, and in-person instruction. After submitting their applications online, students participate in an e-exam covering Mathematics, Science, Algorithms, and General Knowledge. Those who successfully complete this stage are admitted to the 36-month technology-based education program. In the first application round in Siirt, 420 out of 1,638 applicants qualified for the practical exam, and based on the results, 100 middle school and 60 high school students were accepted into the workshop.

Educational Topics and Methodology

The education provided at the Siirt DENEYAP Technology Workshop is project-based and application-oriented. In the first two years, courses include Robotics and Coding, Aviation and Space Technologies, Artificial Intelligence, Electronic Programming, Internet of Things, Cybersecurity, Nanotechnology, and Materials Science. In the third year, students form teams according to their interests and develop projects for national and international technology competitions.

Instructors are graduates or current students from relevant university departments. Each class is supported by one engineer and one teacher. Additionally, psychology interns conduct weekly observations. Classes are held on Saturdays and Sundays in two groups: 09:00–13:00 and 13:30–17:30.

Physical and Technical Infrastructure

The Siirt DENEYAP Technology Workshop operates within the Siirt Youth Center located at Bahçelievler Mahallesi 1426. Sokak No:9. The workshop has a total capacity of 160 students and consists of two classrooms. The learning environment is equipped to meet technological requirements, and the workshop is supported by up-to-date software, hardware, and prototyping tools.

Strategic Importance of the Project

The Siirt DENEYAP Technology Workshop aims to develop individuals with the capability to produce technology within the framework of Türkiye’s National Technology Initiative. Enabling young people to engage with technology at an early age plays a strategic role in fostering an entrepreneurial culture in this field and supporting domestic production. It also provides an appropriate educational environment for young people to develop both individual and teamwork skills.
