TEKNOFEST Biotechnology Innovation Competition

TEKNOFEST Biotechnology Innovation Competition is a technology competition organized in line with Türkiye’s domestic and national technology initiative, aiming to support innovative idea and projects in the field of biotechnology. It is held within the framework of TEKNOFEST Aviation, Space and Technology Festival, led by the Republic of Türkiye Industry and Ministry of Technology (T3 Foundation).

Objective and Scope

The primary objective of the competition is to enhance Türkiye’s effectiveness in biotechnology, strengthen its global competitive power through domestic and national solutions, and develop human capital in this field. Participants are encouraged to develop innovative ideas in critical areas such as healthcare, agriculture, environment and bioremediation such as. The competition also aims to contribute to Türkiye’s biotechnology ecosystem by nurturing young engineers and science professionals.

Biotechnology and Its Importance

Biotechnology is one of the most transformative scientific disciplines of the modern era, enabling the development of cells, animal and microorganisms through DNA technologies. This technology generates high-impact solutions in numerous sectors including human health, food security, environmental cleanup and industry. Particularly, developed countries make substantial investments in biotechnology to achieve global leadership in this field. In contrast, developing countries become dependent on imported biotechnological products and services, placing them at risk in vital areas such as healthcare and food.

Eligibility Criteria and Competition Process

Participants eligible to join the competition include associate degree, bachelor's degree, master’s and doctoral students, as well as individuals who graduated within the last three years. Participants may apply in teams of at least two and at most five members. The competition process consists of three main stages: preliminary evaluation, project presentation and final. Rigorous assessment is conducted at all stages based on criteria such as originality, scientific merit and feasibility.
