The City That Does Not Collapse Despite Everything: Gaza

The latest statements from the United Nations once again lay bare the scale of the genocide unfolding in Gaza. UN Secretary-General’s Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric clearly emphasized that should Israel continue its ground operations, Palestinian families already struggling with a humanitarian crisis will be pushed to the very edge of an abyss.^【1】

This warning, expressed in diplomatic language, is nothing short of a scream. Yet even amid all this genocide, bombardment and blockade, Gaza remains standing, persisting with unwavering resilience Alhamdulillah.

Cities Under Bombardment

Speaking at the daily press briefing at the UN Headquarters in New York, Dujarric reiterated that the situation in Gaza remains “terrible.” Yet words fail to fully capture the reality on the ground, as cities struggle to breathe under the shadow of war.

Particularly Deir al-Balah and Khan Yunis have been subjected to intense aerial strikes and artillery fire in recent days. Homes, shelters, hospitals, and areas housing displaced people are hit almost without distinction. This destruction does not merely shatter buildings; it obliterates the last fragments of hope, the sense of security, and the will to survive.

As residents of Gaza fight to survive amid rubble with every explosion, humanitarian aid teams struggle with severely limited resources. The blockade and access restrictions have rendered the delivery of emergency assistance nearly impossible. This scenario brings not only physical devastation but also a profound psychological collapse.

Yet despite everything, the people of Gaza continue to stand firm and resist. Before us stands a city that, under the shadow of bombs, remains on its feet through its hope; broken but not fully surrendered.^【2】 

The Wall Blocking Humanitarian Aid

As of today, 86 percent of the Gaza Strip is either directly under Israeli military control or has been evacuated under evacuation orders. Humanitarian aid teams cannot reach even the most basic supplies.

For more than five months, the ban on the entry of shelter materials remains in force. This ban constitutes a clear violation of both international humanitarian law and basic human decency. UN officials state that teams on the ground have been deprived of the capacity to intervene at the necessary scale.^【3】 

The Anatomy of Genocide in Numbers

Since 7 October 2023, Israeli attacks have drawn a grim anatomy of catastrophe in Gaza. At least 61,776 Palestinians have lost their lives and 154,906 have been injured. These figures are not mere statistics; each represents a life, a family, a fragment of hope.

The ceasefire declared on 19 January offered only a temporary reprieve. Yet on 18 March, Israel broke it and violence surged again. In just a few months following the collapse of the ceasefire, 10,251 people were killed and 42,865 injured.

These numbers reveal the magnitude of the tragedy in Gaza. Streets, homes and shelters are no longer just ruins; they have become sources of death. Each number tells a story, each figure a storm of destruction… and each one a scream against the world’s silence.

Yet despite everything, the people of Gaza continue to stand. Amid catastrophe, as they fight to survive, these numbers also lay bare humanity’s test.^【4】 

Attack Under the Mask of “Humanitarian Aid”

Since 27 May, distribution zones established under the name “Gaza Humanitarian Aid Foundation” by the murderous alliance of the US and Israel have become areas not of aid but of violence. Civilians have been targeted repeatedly; as a result, 1,881 people have been killed and 13,863 injured.

Turning aid into a weapon of war reveals a complete moral and legal collapse. This strategy, which disregards the most fundamental principles of humanity, further shatters the already fragile trust of the people of Gaza.

Yet despite everything, the people of Gaza refuse to surrender. Even under bombs and attacks, civilians continue their struggle to survive. These attacks carried out under the mask of aid target not only bodies but also souls; yet the fire of resistance remains unextinguished.^【5】 

Admission of Permanent Occupation

The Israeli military has begun implementing its plan to expand and entrench its occupation of Gaza. Prime Minister Netanyahu has openly declared that they will occupy the entire region.^【6】 This statement confirms that the destruction witnessed is not a temporary military operation but a long-term strategic occupation.

Most recently, Gaza is now surrounded not only by bombs but also by hunger, poverty and despair. The UN’s warning calls on the international community to respond to this catastrophe, visible before its eyes, not with words but with concrete action.

Let who will say what they will, let who will consider themselves powerful, there is indeed death and death is right, and no one can kill death. When the Day of Judgment arrives, no one will suffer injustice. The existence of the Supreme Court reminds us that oppression and injustice will inevitably come to an end, Alhamdulillah...
