He was married to Aynur Solak, and from this marriage he had two children: Beyza, who was nine years old, and Alper, who was five years old, at the time of the incident.[^1] ### Professional Career Turgut Solak, serving as a police officer, specialized in the field of special operations. Throughout his career, he worked in various units under the Directorate of Special Operations of the General Directorate of Security. He served in Hakkâri, one of Turkey’s key regions in the fight against terrorism, and was also deployed internationally to Afghanistan. Responding to an emergency call to report to the Gölbaşı Special Operations Directorate to intervene in the coup attempt, Solak left his home and proceeded to his duty station.[^3] During his final phone call with his family while on duty, he advised them to move to a safe area within their home. He lost his life inside the building during the second bomb attack on the Gölbaşı Special Operations Center.[^4] ### Funeral and Legacy Turgut Solak’s body was transferred to his hometown of Balıkesir. Following a funeral ceremony attended by state protocol officials, he was laid to rest in the family cemetery in Ovabayındır Neighborhood of Altıeylül District.
