**Uğur İbrahim Altay** (born 1974, [Konya](/en/detay/konya-e55b5/llms.txt)) is a Turkish civil engineer and politician. He has been serving as the Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality since 2018. Previously, he held the position of Mayor of Selçuklu. He has undertaken various roles in local governance within national and international organizations.

[Uğur İbrahim Altay](/en/detay/ugur-ibrahim-altay-7d68d/llms.txt) was born in Konya in 1974. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Konya.

#### **Educational Background**

Altay completed his primary education at Selçuk Primary School, his secondary education at Mevlana Middle School, and his high school education at Konya Gazi High School. He graduated in 1997 from the Department of Civil Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of [Selçuk University](/en/detay/selcuk-universitesi-5e4ab/llms.txt).

#### **Career Path**

After graduation, he worked for one year as a project engineer. In 1999, he fulfilled his military service as a reserve officer in Şırnak during the 263rd term. He later took on various roles as a civil engineer on multiple projects. He also held positions within professional organizations. Between 2004 and 2008, he served as Deputy President of the Konya Branch of the Chamber of Civil Engineers of Turkey (TMMOB). In 2008, he became President of the same organization’s Konya Branch.

### **Political Career and Municipal Mayorships**

#### **Mayorship of Selçuklu**

He was elected Mayor of Selçuklu in the local elections of 29 March 2009. He was re-elected in the local elections of 30 March 2014 and served a second term.

#### **Mayorship of Konya Metropolitan Municipality**

On 3 May 2018, he was elected by the Konya Metropolitan Municipal Council as [Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality](/en/detay/konya-il-3/llms.txt). He was re-elected in the local elections of 31 March 2019 and 31 March 2024.

Uğur İbrahim Altay has held various positions in national and international organizations, including:

- President of the International Union of Agricultural Cities
