Zamantı River

The Zamantı River is a watercourse located within the boundaries of Yahyalı district in Kayseri, with a length of approximately 50 to 51 kilometres. Stretching 51 kilometres the river is among the key elements of the region in terms of tourism and water sports due to both its natural characteristics and its length.

The Zamantı River stands out as one of Kayseri’s most important areas for rafting and other water sports.A 15-kilometer section of the river has been designated as a national rafting park.^【1】  According to Yahyalı Municipality sources, the area between Yeşilköy and Büyükçakır villages is suitable for rafting, with routes rated at difficulty levels 4, 5 and 6.^【2】 According to the Anatolia Agency the river also offers suitable conditions for canoeing as it flows through the boundaries of Tomarza district and has created a new route for canoe enthusiasts particularly around Böke Village.

The Zamantı River also stands out for its suitability for canoeing in addition to rafting.According to Anadolu Agency sources, the river passing through the Tomarza district has become a new route for canoe enthusiasts.^【3】 Canoeing is particularly possible around Böke Village located approximately 70 kilometres from the city centre. With these features the Zamantı River functions as a natural course offering opportunities for various water sports.

The Zamantı Valley is recognized as an ideal area for nature hiking.A approximately 10 kilometer section surrounded by steep slopes is suitable for walking.^【4】 Additionally during April and May at least fifteen waterfalls cascade down the valley’s slopes though their water levels have gradually decreased over time.
