Why Do We Write?

How does a person express themselves?

How do they proclaim their stance in the face of lived experiences?

Through living, speaking, and writing...

They must express themselves in some way.

They ought to...

Sometimes we write only to convince ourselves.

You might ask, "Are our words not enough?" or "Is writing necessary?"

Yet sometimes our written words feel more convincing.

At other times we have something to say, something we long to shout to the world!

But perhaps we cannot find listeners; we do not know why—so we take a notebook in one hand and a pen in the other, and fill page after page with writing.

As we write, our sentences and feelings become clearer...

We feel as if we are shouting our grievances and our cause to the world.

We say, "Wake up now," "Awaken to what you have ignored and to the truth!"

Sometimes we awaken ourselves, or perhaps we merely assume we have.

We feel a sense of peace and openness; as we feel it, we write, and as we write, we continue to feel it...
