1915 Çanakkale Bridge
The 1915 Çanakkale Bridge is a large suspension bridge spanning the Dardanelles Strait in Türkiye’s Marmara Region. It connects the continents of Asia and Europe and was opened on 18 March 2022.

Why Is It Special?
- The bridge is one of the longest bridges in the world.
- The tower height is 318 metres. This height commemorates the year 2023, the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye, and the 18 March 1915 Çanakkale Victory.
- It features a six-lane roadway for vehicles.
Who Built It?
The bridge was constructed through a joint effort between Turkish and South Korean companies. During construction, foundations were laid 45 metres below the seabed.
Why Is It Important?
- It provides an alternative route to the congested Bosphorus Strait in Istanbul.
- It enables rapid transportation between Europe, the Aegean and the Mediterranean regions.
- It strengthens tourism, agriculture and industry.
