The building of the Hatay City Museum was originally the old building of the Hatay Archaeology Museum. Construction of this building began in 1939 and it was opened to the public on 23 July 1948, approximately ten years after Hatay joined Türkiye. After restoration, it reopened under its current name, Hatay City Museum, on 27 August 2020.

This museum tells the story of Hatay’s ancient life and culture. Inside, there are various themed halls.
- History and Beliefs of Hatay: This section presents Hatay’s past, how different religions coexisted here, and the general characteristics of the city.
- Trade and Production: Throughout history, Hatay has been an important trade center. This hall shows how people conducted trade and what goods they produced.
- Daily Life and Clothing: What did homes in ancient Hatay look like? What kinds of clothing did people wear? Wax figures and antique objects in these sections bring to life the culture of daily life and attire.
