Kefrun Castle
Kefrun Castle, built atop massive rocks in the Kulp district, has a history spanning exactly five thousand years! This fortress is not merely a stone structure; it has stood for millennia like a sentinel watching over the lands between the Euphrates and Tigris rivers.
Nature and History Hand in Hand: The castle was constructed entirely upon natural cliffs, rising to a height of approximately 25 to 30 meters—nearly the height of a ten-story building!
Mysterious Wells and “Miraculous” Grasses: Inside the castle, thirteen water cisterns carved directly into the rock can be found, each reaching a depth of four meters. In the past, rainwater collected in these cisterns, and their surfaces were covered with lush green grasses. Locals regarded the grasses’ ability to shield the water from dust and dirt coming from outside as a miracle.
Adventurous Hikes: Just recently, 345 nature enthusiasts walked 18 kilometers to reach this castle under the slogan “Find Yourself in Nature.”

The Surprise Within the Waters: Diyarbakır’s Maldives
In the village of Yoncalı in the Ergani district, locals refer to the small islands as “Diyarbakır’s Maldives.” When the dam lake’s water recedes, turquoise waters and white soil emerge, transforming the area into a tropical island paradise. If you love taking photographs, this is the perfect spot for you!
A Giant Smile: Crocodile Canyon
Located in the Dicle district, this canyon resembles a crocodile when viewed from above. Accessible by walking through groves of oak trees, the canyon amazes visitors with its unusual rock formations. Many tourists who first encountered this canyon on social media have since flocked to see it in person.
