The Power of Tooth Brushing
How beautiful it is to smile, isn’t it? Then what makes our smile more beautiful? Of course, healthy and clean teeth! The best way to keep our teeth strong is to brush them regularly.
When Should We Start Brushing Our Teeth?
Do you remember the day your first tooth came in? Babies typically get their first teeth between 6 and 8 months of age. From that day on, cleaning begins. Initially, the teeth can be wiped with a clean cloth or gauze.
Around the age of 2.5 to 3 years, a toothbrush can be introduced. At this stage, the goal is not to achieve perfect cleanliness but to develop the habit of brushing.
Which Toothbrush and Toothpaste Should We Choose?
Toothbrushes, like shoes, vary in fit for each person. A child’s toothbrush should be small with soft bristles. Hard bristles can irritate the teeth.
Caution is also needed when choosing toothpaste. Young children may sometimes want to swallow it. Therefore, it is advisable to consult a dentist before starting to use toothpaste. If toothpaste is used, a pea-sized amount is sufficient.
How Should We Brush Our Teeth?
Brushing your teeth is like painting a picture. Use circular motions to move the brush:
-Start with the back teeth and move forward.
-Brush the inner surfaces of the upper teeth, sweeping from the gumline toward the tooth.
-Use back-and-forth motions on the chewing surfaces.
-Gently brush your tongue as well.
-Finally, rinse your mouth thoroughly with water.
If you follow these steps for about two minutes, your teeth will shine brightly.
Making Tooth Brushing Fun
Brushing teeth can sometimes feel boring, but there are fun ways to make it enjoyable:
-Have your whole family brush their teeth while you do.
-Choose a toothbrush featuring your favorite cartoon character.
-Place an hourglass in the bathroom and brush until the sand runs out.
-Create a brushing chart and mark each brushing session.
-After brushing, check your smile in the mirror and smile at your clean teeth.
