Why Did It Become a Museum?
Zeki Müren spent a significant part of his life from 1980 until his death in 1996 in this house in Bodrum. He sought peace in this quiet place to rest and continue his artistic work. After his passing, the house was renovated by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye in 2000 and opened to the public as a museum. The museum reflects the artist’s lifestyle and aesthetic tastes, much like how your favorite slide in a playground keeps its place.
What Is in the Museum? 🎶🎨
The museum is a two-story Bodrum house. Here you can see Zeki Müren’s colorful stage costumes, jewelry, and personal items, all designed by him. These objects reveal his love for art and his unique style. For example, in some rooms you can see his bed, his desk, and everyday belongings exactly as they were during his lifetime.
You can also find paintings he created and handwritten song scores in the museum. This shows that he was not only a singer but also a painter and composer. In the garden of the house, there is a car belonging to him and a statue. As you walk through the museum, Zeki Müren’s voice and songs play softly in the background.
