Giresun is a coastal city located in the eastern part of the Black Sea Region, situated between Ordu and Trabzon. Surrounded by natural beauty, historical structures and the cool waters of the Black Sea, Giresun is especially famous for its hazelnuts and its island.

🕰️ A Brief History

The history of Giresun extends back to antiquity, to the 7th century BCE. Known in ancient times as Kerasus, the city has been home to many civilizations, from the Persians to the Romans. The name Giresun derives from the word “kerasus,” meaning cherry. According to legend, the Amazon warrior women lived on Giresun Island. During the Ottoman period, Giresun became an important trade port.
