Historical Periods and Eras
What Is History?
History is the science that tells the stories of events that occurred in the past. How did people live long ago? What did they do? To learn this, we listen to historians! They explore the past by studying ancient books, stones, and writings. Thanks to history, we learn what our ancestors experienced and how the world changed!

Historians examine time in three ways to present events in order:
📅 Linear Time – Events are arranged in sequence. First, dinosaurs lived; then, humans built houses!
🔄 Cyclical Time – Some events, like the seasons, repeat endlessly!
🕰 Major Changes – These are long-term transformations, such as humans moving from caves to homes!

To understand the past, historians divide time into periods:
Medieval Period – The era in Europe characterized by knights and castles. For Muslims, it was a golden age of science.
Renaissance – A time of flourishing in art and science.
Industrial Revolution – The period when factories and trains were built.
