What Is the Metristepe Victory Monument?
The Metristepe Victory Monument is a special memorial erected to honor Turkish soldiers who died in the Inönü Battles during the War of Independence. This monument reminds us of our heroic past and symbolizes our struggle for independence.
🌍 Where Is It Located?
This meaningful monument is situated on top of Metristepe, a hill at an elevation of 1,280 meters, in the district of Bozüyük, Bilecik Province.
🕰️ When and Why Was It Built?
Construction of the monument began on 24 June 1973 and was completed on 29 June 1975. Built in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye, the monument was erected to honor our soldiers who fell in the Inönü Battles.
🧱 Features of the Monument
The monument is a 24-meter-high reinforced concrete structure. It features reliefs depicting the units and commanders who served in the battle. Additionally, trenches carved into the surrounding area and statues of soldiers have been added to recreate the atmosphere of the conflict.

🎖️ Why Is It Important?
Metristepe was a highly strategic location during the Inönü Battles. The Turkish army demonstrated fierce resistance here and halted the enemy’s advance. This victory marked a crucial step on the path to the founding of the Republic of Türkiye.
