Mustafapaşa has been inhabited since ancient times. Around two centuries ago, in the 19th century, the village was predominantly populated by Greeks (Greek Orthodox community), a legacy reflected in its former name, Sinasos. The Greek population grew wealthy through trade and expressed their prosperity in grand, ornate stone mansions. In 1924, following the population exchange agreement between Turkey and Greece, the Greek residents of Sinasos were required to relocate to Greece, and Turkish settlers from Thessaloniki were resettled in their place. This transition led to the village being known as Mustafapaşa.

What Is Its Architectural Structure? 🏛️

Mustafapaşa offers some of the finest examples of regional stone architecture. The houses and mansions in the village were largely constructed during the 18th and 19th centuries. These structures are built from Cappadocia’s soft volcanic stone, which is both durable and easy to carve.
