Alexandra Vyacheslavovna Trusova is a Russian figure skater born on 23 June 2004 in Ryazan. Trusova, who competes in the women’s singles category, is known for programs with high technical difficulty and quadruple jumps. She is recorded as the first female skater to land a quadruple Lutz, quadruple flip, and quadruple toe loop in competition and among the few skaters to perform multiple quadruple jumps in a single free program.【1】


The skater, who incorporates multiple quadruple jumps into her programs, has stated that she aims for high technical difficulty and prefers competing with challenging content; she has emphasized her goal of preparing programs at the highest technical level.【2】

Early Career

Alexandra Trusova achieved various placements in national and international competitions during her early career in the junior category. Competing in ISU junior-level events, she won first place in several Junior Grand Prix competitions during the 2018 season and finished second at the 2018 Junior Grand Prix Final. In 2019, Trusova won gold at the World Junior Figure Skating Championships and also claimed first place at the Russian Junior Championships. Additionally, she placed second at the 2019 Russian Senior Championships.【3】


Trusova was among the first female skaters to land multiple quadruple jumps in a single program at the 2018–2019 World Junior Championships. She also became the first woman to land quadruple Lutz, quadruple flip, and quadruple toe loop jumps in international competition. These technical achievements contributed significantly to her recognition within the international figure skating community at an early stage of her career.【4】

Professional Career

Following her success in the junior category, Alexandra Trusova began competing in senior-level international events. During this period, she participated in ISU Grand Prix series and other international competitions. In the 2019–2020 season, she won first place in several Grand Prix events and finished third at the Grand Prix Final. She also won a bronze medal at the European Figure Skating Championships and placed among the top competitors at the Russian National Championships.【5】


In 2020, Trusova changed coaches and began training with Evgeni Plushenko, during which she worked on different training programs and technical preparations. During her season with Plushenko, she won first place at the Moscow stage of the Cup of Russia. She later returned to her previous coaching team and resumed training with Eteri Tutberidze.【6】


In the 2020–2021 season, Trusova continued competing in international events and won a bronze medal at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships. She also earned placements in various international competitions and Grand Prix events that season. The skater, known for programs with high technical difficulty, included multiple quadruple jumps in her free program. Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics

Alexandra Trusova competed in the women’s singles event at the 2022 Winter Olympic Games representing the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC). She also participated in the team event, earning a bronze medal with ROC. In the individual women’s competition, she won a silver medal. After falling on a triple Axel in the short program and placing fourth, Trusova omitted the triple Axel in the free program and added five quadruple jumps. She successfully completed three of them cleanly, scoring 177.13 points in the free program and a total of 251.73 points, achieving her personal best score. With this result, she finished second in the women’s singles event.【8】


The women’s competition at the Olympics, following the team event, attracted international media attention due to a doping case and its subsequent developments. After the free program, Trusova was noted for her emotional reaction and public expression of dissatisfaction with the result. In post-competition statements, she said, “I will never go out on the ice again. Never! I hate it!” and “Everyone has a gold medal! Only I don’t!” Despite this, Trusova attended the medal ceremony following the competition and accepted her silver medal.【9】

Alexandra Trusova married fellow skater Makar Ignatov. The couple welcomed a son named Mikhail on 6 August 2025. After motherhood, Trusova resumed her figure skating training, returning to triple jumps and actively participating in ice shows. In addition to performance appearances, she has taken on roles as a journalist in media and engages in various media activities. Trusova is pursuing journalism education, produces vlog content, and has experience as a commentator.【11】
