

Bülent Korkmaz was born on 24 November 1968 in Ankara. He showed an early interest in football and began his career in the youth academy of Galatasaray Sports Club. Korkmaz, who progressed from the youth system to the senior team, attracted attention with his performances as a defender at a young age.
Bülent Korkmaz began his professional football career in 1987 with the Galatasaray senior team. He wore the Galatasaray jersey for 18 seasons. From the 1990s onward, he assumed the role of team captain. He was part of the squad that won the UEFA Cup in the 1999–2000 season and played in the final against Arsenal. He contributed to numerous domestic successes including multiple Süper Lig titles, Türkiye Cup and Turkish Presidential Cup such as victories. Korkmaz made over 430 official appearances for Galatasaray.
Bülent Korkmaz made his debut for the Türkiye national football team in 1990. He earned a total of 102 caps for the national team as a defender. He was selected for the squads of the 1996 Europe European Football Championship (EURO 1996) and the 2000 European Football Championship (EURO 2000). He also played in the squad that secured third place at the 2002 FIFA World World Cup.
After retiring from professional football in 2005, Bülent Korkmaz began his coaching career in 2007 with Kayseri Erciyesspor. He subsequently held managerial positions at clubs including Galatasaray, Bursaspor, Kardemir Karabükspor, İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor, Mersin İdmanyurdu and Antalyaspor.

Bülent Korkmaz never played for any other club during his playing career and is regarded as a one-club man. He is known for his consistent defensive performances and long-standing captaincy role at Galatasaray.
