Buse Naz Çakıroğlu is the national boxer who represents Türkiye in the women’s 52 kg weight class. She has won various medals at European, world and Olympic levels. Since 2019, her achievements in international competitions have established her as one of Türkiye’s leading female boxers.

Early Life and Start in Sports

Buse Naz Çakıroğlu was born on 26 May 1996 in Trabzon. She began her sporting career in athletics before transitioning to boxing. She pursued her higher education in the Molecular Biology and Genetics department at Bahçeşehir University in Istanbul.

European Championships

In 2019, Çakıroğlu won a gold medal at the European Senior Boxing Championship held in Alcobendas, Spain. In 2022, she secured her second European title at the championship held in Budva, Montenegro.

In 2024, at the European Senior Boxing Championship held in Belgrade, Serbia, she advanced to the final by defeating Spain’s Marta Lopez Del Arbol in the quarterfinals and Bulgaria’s Venelina Poptoleva in the semifinals. In the final, she defeated Russia’s Anastasiia Kool with a 5-0 score in all three rounds, earning her third European championship title. This achievement marked her third consecutive European title.

World Championships

In 2022, Çakıroğlu won a gold medal at the World Women’s Boxing Championship held in Istanbul. At the 2025 World Women’s Boxing Championship in Serbia, she reached the final by defeating China’s Sitong Wei in the quarterfinals and Mongolia’s Arinzul Chinbat in the semifinals. She lost on points to North Korea’s Pang Chol Mi in the final, earning a silver medal. She also won a silver medal at the world championships in 2019.

Olympic Games

Çakıroğlu represented Türkiye at the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympic Games, winning a silver medal in the women’s 52 kg category at both events.

Buse Naz Çakıroğlu is recognized as Türkiye’s first female boxer to qualify for the Olympics under the country’s quota system. She continues her sporting career with Fenerbahçe Sports Club.
