Dülükbaba Nature Park is a protected area located within the boundaries of the Şehitkamil district of Gaziantep Province in Türkiye’s Southeastern Anatolia Region. It is situated approximately 8 kilometers from the center of Gaziantep, at the Dülük locality. The park lies along the Gaziantep-Adana State Highway and covers a total area of 306 hectares. Due to its geographic position among the city’s highest elevations, it offers a broad panoramic vista.
The forest cover of the site originated from systematic reforestation efforts initiated in the 1950s. It is one of Türkiye’s largest人工造林 forests created through human intervention. Its legal development has progressed through the following chronology:
The vegetation structure of the park is predominantly composed of coniferous tree species. The dominant tree species is Turkish pine. Other species observed within the ecosystem include:
The water needs of the site are met through three boreholes located within the area. Additionally, a biological pond contributes visually and ecologically to the environment.
The land use development plan for Dülükbaba Nature Park is functionally divided into four main sub-areas:
The technical equipment and facility inventory at the site includes: one stone grill, one administrative building, one retail unit, 1450 picnic tables, eight toilet units, 20 water fountains, five children’s play groups, 100 trash bins, and eight dishwashing stations.
The nature park holds significance not only for its natural features but also for its historical remains. Within the forested area lie ancient rock-cut tombs, which are accessible to visitors.
The site has high potential for outdoor recreation and nature tourism.
Under the Türkiye Century Education Model, the site is designated as an “Out-of-School Learning Environment.” It serves as a practical and observational site for subjects ranging from preschool to middle school levels, including physical activity and health, science (living world, soil formation, sustainability), social studies (shared heritage), and Turkish language.
