It is situated approximately 8 kilometers from the center of Gaziantep, at the Dülük locality. The park lies along the Gaziantep-Adana State Highway and covers a total area of 306 hectares. Due to its geographic position among the city’s highest elevations, it offers a broad panoramic vista.

Historical Development and Legal Status

The forest cover of the site originated from systematic reforestation efforts initiated in the 1950s. It is one of Türkiye’s largest人工造林 forests created through human intervention. Its legal development has progressed through the following chronology:

  • 1990: Opened to the public as an Inner Forest Rest Area.
  • 1998: Operation of facilities was leased to the private sector through tender.
  • 2002: Officially registered as a Type A Recreation Area.
  • Current Status: Ownership belongs to the General Directorate of Forestry, while all disposal authority rests with the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks; operations are currently managed by the Şehitkamil Municipality.

Ecological Features and Flora

The vegetation structure of the park is predominantly composed of coniferous tree species. The dominant tree species is Turkish pine. Other species observed within the ecosystem include:

  • Black pine
  • Cedar
  • Oak
  • Almond

The water needs of the site are met through three boreholes located within the area. Additionally, a biological pond contributes visually and ecologically to the environment.

Spatial Planning and Infrastructure Facilities

The land use development plan for Dülükbaba Nature Park is functionally divided into four main sub-areas:

  1. Sports Complex Sub-area: Includes various physical activity zones.
  2. Entrance Control and Administrative Facilities Sub-area: Contains administrative management and control points.
  3. Rest Houses (Bungalows) Sub-area: Houses accommodation units.
  4. Picnic Area Sub-area: Designated for day-use visitors.

The technical equipment and facility inventory at the site includes: one stone grill, one administrative building, one retail unit, 1450 picnic tables, eight toilet units, 20 water fountains, five children’s play groups, 100 trash bins, and eight dishwashing stations.
