Established by Law No. 3837 dated 11 July 1992, Kütahya Dumlupınar University is a state university located in Türkiye’s Aegean Region. It derives its name from the Battle of Dumlupınar, a turning point in the Turkish War of Independence. In this context, the university has become synonymous with both a historical and cultural symbol. Since its foundation, it has operated as an institution embracing modern educational approaches, prioritizing scientific production and aiming to contribute to society.

Campuses and Physical Infrastructure

The main campus of Kütahya Dumlupınar University, the Evliya Çelebi Campus, is situated in the center of Kütahya city on an area exceeding 7,500 decares. The campus architecture draws inspiration from Seljuk and Ottoman aesthetic principles. The symbolic crown gate at the campus entrance serves as the starting point of its architectural identity. This entrance consists of an arched passage flanked by two large towers and smaller towers diminishing toward the sides.

Located along the main axis of the entrance is the Rectorate Building, one of the central elements of the campus layout. Between the entrance and the rectorate stand five symmetrical fountains, with the Atatürk and Dumlupınar Monument positioned at their end, reflecting the campus’s symbolic and cultural value. A ring road planned within the expansive campus grounds has relocated motor vehicle traffic outside the academic buildings, prioritizing pedestrian safety. This arrangement contributes to orderly and secure internal campus mobility.

The university’s other campuses are distributed across districts including the Simav Dr. İbrahim Naci Eren Campus and the Tavşanlı Campus. Additionally, faculties, colleges, and vocational colleges operate in eight districts such as Gediz, Emet, Altıntaş, and Hisarcık. This widespread structure enhances the university’s regional accessibility and service capacity.
