The Duru 67 Fishing Vessel Attack is an assault carried out on 5 June 2026 on the Turkish flagged fishing vessel "DURU 67" in the Black Sea, off the coast of Sevastopol west of Crimea. As a result of the attack, the vessel sustained damage and sank; one crew member lost his life and four others were injured. The Turkish Ministry of Interior Coast Guard Command issued a written statement regarding the incident. On 5 June 2026, in the Black Sea off the coast of Sevastopol west of Crimea, an attack was carried out on the Turkish flagged fishing vessel DURU 67. The vessel sustained damage and sank as a result.
The fishing vessel BURAK KAYA, which was operating in the area, evacuated the five injured fishermen from the sinking vessel and began transit toward İnebolu. During the journey, one fisherman in critical condition lost his life.
Following the alert, the Turkish Ministry of Interior Coast Guard Command vessel TCSG-96 departed from İnebolu Port at 12:35. The medical team on board consists of a total of 19 personnel, including four doctors and 15 UMKE nurses and auxiliary medical staff.
The assigned Coast Guard unit reached the fishing vessel BURAK KAYA at 19:20, located 115 nautical miles north of İnebolu Port within Turkey’s Search and Rescue Zone. The deceased fisherman’s body and the injured fishermen were transferred to the Coast Guard vessel, medical assistance was initiated, and the return journey to İnebolu Port commenced.
After approximately 15 hours of transit, initial medical care for the rescued fishermen was provided aboard the vessel by medical personnel. Kastamonu Provincial Health Director Fevzi Yavuzyılmaz made the following statement regarding the incident: “We had four injured. Their wounds were primarily caused by shrapnel fragments. Our emergency medicine specialist, four physician colleagues, other health staff, and UMKE personnel provided initial treatment. We performed a minor surgical procedure on one patient to insert a chest tube. The others received wound dressings and stabilization. We transported the patients to İnebolu Coast Guard Port. There, our waiting ambulances transferred them to medical facilities.”
Yavuzyılmaz added regarding the condition of the injured: “Two of our patients have relatively minor injuries, while the other two have somewhat more serious wounds. Initial interventions have been completed. We have now successfully transferred them to hospitals. Eighteen health personnel participated in the operation. In coordination with the entire Coast Guard team, our AFAD directorate units were also on standby at the port. We hope our injured will recover and be discharged. Our condolences to all.”
The body and the injured were brought to İnebolu Port. The injured, transferred to ambulances waiting at the Coast Guard Station, were transported to Kastamonu Education and Research Hospital. The body of the deceased fisherman was taken to the morgue of İnebolu State Hospital. Coordination was conducted under the authority of the Provincial Government, and AFAD directorate units were also on standby at the port.
