
Ersan İlyasova was born on 15 May 1987 in Eskişehir. He was selected in the second round of the 2005 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks with the 36th overall pick and began his NBA career in the 2006–07 season. Before playing for teams such as the Knicks, Pistons, and Orlando, he spent many years with the Bucks and became one of the team’s most reliable power forwards.

Over his NBA career, Ilyasova appeared in over 800 games, averaging 10.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. He notably achieved an impressive three-point shooting percentage of 45.5% during the 2011–12 season, placing him among the league leaders.
In the summer of 2015, Ilyasova was traded to the Detroit Pistons and later played for the Orlando Magic, Oklahoma City Thunder, Philadelphia 76ers, and Atlanta Hawks. He continued his NBA career by signing with the Utah Jazz in March 2021.
Ersan İlyasova served for many years with the Türkiye national basketball team, achieving significant accomplishments. He began his international career by winning a silver medal at the 2003 European Youth Championship and wore the senior national team jersey at the 2006 FIBA World Championship, the 2010 World Cup, and multiple EuroBasket tournaments. He played a pivotal role in Türkiye’s silver medal win at the 2010 World Cup, contributing significantly as both a scorer and rebounder. He delivered standout performances in many games, including a 26-point effort against Greece at EuroBasket 2009. With his positional versatility, on-court discipline, and experience, he led multiple generations of Turkish basketball players.
