Hakan Fidan is a bureaucrat who has served as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye since 2023. Previously, he held the position of Director of the National Intelligence Organization (MİT).
Hakan Seedling was born in 1968 in the Hamamönü neighborhood of Ankara. He received his education at the Armed Forces Communications School and the Army Forces Language School. During his service in the Turkish Armed Forces, while posted abroad in NATO, he completed his bachelor's degree studies in Political Science and Public Administration at the University of Maryland University College.
After returning to Türkiye, he earned his master’s and doctoral degrees from the Department of International Relations at Bilkent University. In his master’s thesis, he studied the role of intelligence in foreign policy, and in his doctoral thesis, he conducted research on the use of information technologies in international verification processes.
Fidan has served as a faculty member in international relations at Hacettepe University and Bilkent University.
