

Ibrahim Çolak was born in İzmir in 1995. His interest in sports began at an early age, and at five years old, he took up gymnastics under the guidance of his family. According to his mother, Sultan Çolak, training conditions at that time were not as favorable as they are today. Throughout his school years, Çolak consistently followed a morning training schedule and made sure not to miss his sessions. His coach, Yılmaz Göktekin, noticed his potential from a young age and emphasized to his family the importance of maintaining regular training.
Ibrahim Çolak has represented Türkiye in artistic gymnastics on international platforms. One of his most significant achievements was winning the gold medal on the rings at the 2019 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships held in Stuttgart, Germany. With this result, he became the first Turkish artistic gymnast to win a world championship title in the senior category in the history of the Republic.
In the same year, Çolak competed at the European Championships, delivering a strong performance despite having recently undergone shoulder surgery. It was uncertain until the final week whether he would be able to participate; his decision to compete was based on his performance during training.
In addition to his individual successes, Ibrahim Çolak has made important contributions at the team level. He played an active role in helping Türkiye qualify as a team for the Olympic Games in artistic gymnastics. Çolak views this milestone as a turning point in Turkish sports history and has stated that Türkiye has now become a recognized “gymnastics nation” on the international stage. He has noted that Turkish gymnastics has gained significant momentum over the past decade and that these achievements have created greater opportunities for children and families to engage with the sport.
Family support has played a decisive role in Ibrahim Çolak’s sporting career. His mother, Sultan Çolak, in particular, made great efforts to ensure his consistent attendance at training. His family has stood by him throughout his entire career, offering unwavering support under all circumstances. Çolak frequently highlights this support, emphasizing how valuable the morale provided by his family members has been to him.
In his free time, Çolak prefers to stay at home and helps his mother in the kitchen. He prepares meals such as crêpes, menemen, and cake alongside her and takes part in simple household cooking tasks. He also enjoys playing computer games and watching TV series as part of his daily routine.
