Ihsan Şenocak, born in 1974 in Samsun, is a researcher, author and theologian who completed his doctorate in Islamic law. He is also the founding president of the Center for Scientific and Intellectual Research (İFAM) in Samsun. ^【1】 Married and a father of four children, Şenocak continues his research and educational activities from his center in Samsun.^【2】

Born in Samsun in 1974, he completed his primary education and then received hafız training. He graduated from Samsun Imam Hatip High School in 1994.^【3】

Şenocak graduated from the Faculty of Theology at Ondokuz Mayıs University in 1999, where during his university years he received training in Islamic sciences within the framework of the "muhalled usul" method. In 2002 he completed a specialization program at the Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı Istanbul Haseki Education Center. He focused his academic work on Islamic law, earning a master’s degree with his thesis titled "Taqlid in Islamic Law" and later obtaining his doctorate with his thesis "The Influence of Custom on Legal Rulings in Islamic Law."^【4】

Şenocak has held various positions within the Directorate of Religious Affairs. He began his publishing career in 1996 with the launch of the journal Yedibeyza. From 2005 to 2010 he served as general editor of the journal İnkişaf. He wrote opinion pieces and article series under pseudonyms for the newspapers Milli Gazete and Yeni Şafak. In the media field, in 2008 he prepared and presented the program "Köprü" on TV5 and participated in programs on Ülke TV and other television channels. Currently he serves as general editor of the monthly journal Hüküm and of the Arabic-language journal el-Mecelletü’l-Hamidiyye, both published under İFAM.^【5】

Şenocak conducts educational activities at the Center for Scientific and Intellectual Research (İFAM), which he founded. At this center he teaches courses on core and auxiliary Islamic sciences such as tafsir, hadith, fiqh, aqaid, usul, nahw, logic, kavaid and makasid, and continues his research alongside a team of scholars. The center’s communication activities are managed from the 19 Mayıs district of Samsun. Additionally, İFAM offers online education under the names İFAM Sertifika^【6】 and İFAM Dijital^【7】.^【8】

Ihsan Şenocak has published various fatwas on social and jurisprudential issues. Topics include "Is There Democracy in Islam?", "Is Türkiye a Dar al-Harb?", "What Is Jihad?", "Imamate", "Perruque", "Sunni-Alawite Marriage" and "Holding Rallies for the Ummah." In his interviews, the influence of Orientalism on Qur’anic interpretation and biographical assessments are prominent. He also collaborates with educators at İFAM to provide fatwas through the website "Fetvahane"^【9】.^【10】
