KALKAN II Air Defense Radar

KALKAN-II is a radar system developed within Türkiye’s defense industry capable of detecting and tracking medium-altitude air targets. The system is designed for the protection of critical military and civilian facilities. Thanks to its mobile structure, it enables rapid deployment and flexible operation across various mission areas.

KALKAN-II employs X-band phased array antenna technology and possesses three-dimensional search and tracking capabilities. The system can detect targets such as aircraft, helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, and cruise missiles. It can scan across a 360° azimuth and an elevation angle range of -10° to +55°, tracking targets up to a range of 120 kilometers. The target identification module operates with the Mod 5 IFF system and can detect electronic jammers.

KALKAN-II features a modular design and is delivered with a sensor group mounted on a trailer. The system can operate both independently and integrated with command and control systems. Thanks to digital pulse compression and electronic protection measures, it achieves high range resolution with low transmission power.

The system is used for air defense of critical facilities, integration with air defense missile systems, and compatible operations with command and control systems. It can also operate autonomously to provide independent air defense. KALKAN-II has the capacity to track multiple targets and provide classification and identification data for each target.

As a domestically produced radar system, KALKAN-II supports Türkiye’s goals of self-reliance in its defense industry. With its advantages of rapid deployment and flexible operation, the system provides strategic value in dynamic operational environments.
