Konya Airport is an airport that began operations in 2000 and is open to both civil and military flights. Located 18 kilometers from the center of Konya city, the airport is identified by the ICAO code LTAN and the IATA code KYA. The terminal building has a total area of 24,175 m².

History and Development

The airport was opened for civil flights in 1998 with the addition of civilian facilities to the military airfield belonging to the Konya Third Main Jet Base Command. Initially operated under the authority of Ankara Esenboğa Airport, it began functioning as an independent airport on 16 May 2002. It was opened to international flights on 17 April 2001 and provides service seven days a week, 24 hours without interruption hour.

Terminal and Passenger Capacity

The airport’s terminal building was renovated in 2014 to increase passenger capacity. The terminal used for domestic and international flights:

  • Domestic Terminal: 4,165 m²
  • International Terminal: 4,500 m²
  • Total Capacity: Annual 3.5 million passengers

The airport features:

  • 12 check-in counters,
  • 4 aircraft boarding gates,
  • 880 m² VIP lounge,
  • 397 m² CIP lounge,
  • 2 customs control points,
  • 12 passport control booths.

Flight Routes and Apron Capacity

Konya Airport operates regular flights for both domestic and international destinations.

Domestic Routes:

  • Istanbul Airport
  • Sabiha Gökçen Airport

International Routes:

Flights are scheduled to Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Austria and Saudi Arabia like depending on the tourism season direct.

The airport has an apron capacity to accommodate 10 aircraft simultaneously.

Transportation and Other Services

Access to the airport is provided by HAVAŞ buses and commercial taxis. Within the terminal:

  • 550-space parking lot,
  • Car rental offices,
  • Cafes and restaurants,
  • Postal services.


In addition, since 29 January 2015, the airport has held the “Green Airport” certification, adopting an environmentally conscious operational approach. Konya Airport continues to be one of the key aviation hubs in the Central Anatolia Region, supported by its infrastructure, extensive service capacity and international flight network important.
