TEI-TJ90 Turbojet Engine

The TEI-TJ90 Turbojet Engine is a turbojet engine developed by TUSAŞ Motor Industries (TEI) specifically for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This engine emerged from TEI’s national-level research and development initiatives and is positioned as a competitive product in the international market. The TEI-TJ90 is controlled entirely by locally developed electronic control units (ECUs) and is designed to meet the requirements of UAVs gas turbine.

The TEI-TJ90 was designed to meet established flight and durability criteria throughout its design and testing phases, with performance validated through experimental flight tests. As a locally developed turbojet solution for UAV systems, it represents a demonstration of domestic engineering capability in both technical and operational terms.

Development of the engine began in January 2011 with the objective of designing a turbojet engine delivering higher thrust than the TEI-TJ35 model. The project was carried out with support from TEYDEB, and its first flight test was conducted on 5 June 2013. On 7 June 2017, the TEI-TJ90 completed its first integrated platform flight with the Şimşek UAV platform developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ).
