Japan
Japan is located in the eastern part of the Asian continent, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. It consists of four major islands—Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu, and Shikoku—and many smaller islands. Its neighboring countries are separated by seas: it is close to China, Korea, and Russia. Japan, whose capital is Tokyo, is well known for both its natural beauty and its technology.

The official language of Japan is Japanese. The Japanese writing system is composed of different characters: Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji. The Japanese flag is very simple: a red circle on a white background. This circle represents the rising sun. For this reason, Japan is known as the "Land of the Rising Sun."
