2025 Stockton Attack

The 2025 Stockton Attack is a mass armed attack that occurred on 29 November 2025 at an event venue in the city of Stockton, California, United States, resulting in the deaths of four people, three of whom were children, and at least 11 others injured. The attack took place during a birthday celebration for a two-year-old child.

Background of the Incident

The attack occurred at an event and banquet hall located at 1900 Lucile Avenue in Stockton. Spokespersons for the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the event was a birthday party for a child who had just turned two.

It was reported that the invitation indicated the party would take place between 15.00 and 18.00. The number of attendees was estimated to be between 100 and 150 people.

Patrice Williams, the mother, stated that during the attack, family members were preparing to cut the cake. Williams also said she managed to protect her daughter but that her sister, a cousin, and three friends were shot.

Course of the Incident

The attack occurred around 18.00 local time on 29 November 2025. The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office stated that the shooting began inside the building and spread outward. “It appears to have started inside and moved outward,” officials said. More than 14 bullet holes were found at one entrance to the building, each marked with evidence numbers. Additionally, shell casings, bullet fragments, and weapons found on the roof were collected for examination.

Four people lost their lives in the attack. The victims’ ages were reported as 8, 9, 14 and 21. The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that 11 people were injured.

Investigation and Security Agency Statements

The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office stated, “Initial findings suggest this may have been a targeted attack.” Sheriff Patrick Withrow expressed his belief that the attack was not random, saying, “We are confident this was not a random act. They likely entered this area seeking a specific individual.”

Based on evidence at the scene, Withrow stated, “There appears to be more than one attacker.” The Sheriff’s Office appealed to the public for information, video footage, or eyewitness accounts. “This is a time when our community must show it will not tolerate such behavior,” officials said.

On the same night, Stockton Police detained five individuals, including one aged 16, in the Civic District area following reports of “multiple armed individuals.” However, the Sheriff later confirmed there was no connection between these individuals and the attack. The Mayor of Stockton and city council members announced that rewards of up to 25,000 dollars would be offered to anyone providing information leading to the identification of the perpetrators.
