2026 MotoGP Season

The 2026 MotoGP season, featuring 22 countries and 22 different riders, is scheduled to begin on 1 March and conclude on 22 November. This season, notable for calendar expansion and restructuring in South America, also marks the final event before a comprehensive technical transformation takes effect in 2027.

Brazil (Goiânia) 2026–2030 has returned to the calendar under a new agreement. The host circuit is the Goiânia International Racetrack Ayrton Senna. The agreement was established between MotoGP, the government of Goiás, and Brasil Motorsport; completion of circuit upgrades was a prerequisite for the 2026 return.

Balaton Park in Hungary has entered the calendar for the first time. Brno in the Czech Republic has returned to the calendar.

The Argentine Grand Prix was not held in the 2026 season. The organizing body continues to target a return in 2027.

However, some season lists included a listing for “Argentina GP – Termas de Río Hondo” for 2026; these same lists also featured other circuits such as “Kazakhstan GP.” Discrepancies emerged among official 2026 calendar publications regarding circuit order and inclusion.

As of 2027, the Argentine leg has been relocated to Buenos Aires. The Autódromo Oscar y Juan Gálvez has entered a renovation process; comprehensive upgrades to the circuit, pits, paddock, and safety areas have become a core component of the calendar.

In 2027, the 850 cc engine regulations will take effect; ride-height and holeshot devices will be banned, and stricter aerodynamic restrictions will be introduced. Simultaneously, the tyre supplier will change from Michelin to Pirelli, which will become the sole supplier for both MotoGP and MotoE.

The 2026 season marks the year Toprak Razgatlıoğlu made his debut in the premier class. Razgatlıoğlu is the first Turkish rider to compete in MotoGP as part of the Prima Pramac Yamaha team.

Yamaha Motor Racing used an inline-four engine configuration in MotoGP for many years. Prior to the 2026 season, it decided to transition to a V4 engine layout. This technical shift, implemented just before comprehensive regulatory changes take effect in 2027, represents a strategic move. The new engine architecture introduces different parameters in terms of performance potential and riding characteristics.

The Thailand Grand Prix, the opening race of the 2026 MotoGP World Championship, took place between 27 February and 1 March 2026 at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram. The event featured races in the MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 classes.

The weekend witnessed several statistical milestones: the end of Ducati’s long-standing podium streak, Pedro Acosta’s rise to the top of the championship standings, and Turkish rider Toprak Razgatlıoğlu’s debut in a premier MotoGP race.

In qualifying, Aprilia Racing rider Marco Bezzecchi secured pole position with a time of 1:28.652. Ducati Lenovo rider Marc Marquez finished second, 0.035 seconds behind, while Raul Fernandez of Trackhouse Aprilia took third place. The past two-time champion, Francesco Bagnaia, ended the session in 13th position.

In the 13-lap Sprint Race on Saturday, Bezzecchi took the lead but crashed out on the second lap. In the later stages of the race, a battle for the lead developed between Marc Marquez and Red Bull KTM rider Pedro Acosta. Marquez’s overtaking maneuver on Acosta on the penultimate lap was reviewed by FIM stewards, who imposed a one-position penalty on Marquez. Marquez yielded position to Acosta in the final corner, allowing Acosta to win the Sprint Race, with Marquez finishing second and Fernandez third.

In the 26-lap main race on Sunday, Marco Bezzecchi started from pole and finished first with a time of 39 minutes 36.270 seconds. Pedro Acosta came in second, 5.543 seconds behind, while Raul Fernandez secured third place. Jorge Martin finished fourth and Ai Ogura fifth.

In the closing stages of the race, Marc Marquez, who was fighting for a podium position, retired due to a rear tire blowout. Later in the race, Marquez’s brother Alex crashed at Turn 4, while Honda rider Joan Mir, who had been running inside the top six, retired from the race due to rear tire issues and entered the pit lane.

As a result of these outcomes, Ducati’s 88-race podium streak, which began at the 2021 British Grand Prix, came to an end. In the championship standings, Pedro Acosta claimed the lead of the MotoGP World Championship for the first time in his career.

Turkish rider Toprak Razgatlıoğlu started his first-ever MotoGP main race from 21st position. He moved up to 20th after passing Tech3 KTM rider Maverick Vinales on the fourth lap and later overtook his teammate Jack Miller in the final stages to finish 17th. Despite limited experience with Michelin tires, Razgatlıoğlu maintained consistent pace and completed his first consecutive 26-lap MotoGP race in his career.

KTM emerged strongly with Pedro Acosta’s second-place finish, while teammate Brad Binder completed the main race in seventh. Tech3 KTM rider Maverick Vinales struggled throughout the weekend with front-end grip and Michelin tire carcass issues, finishing 16th. On the Honda side, after Joan Mir’s retirement, the best result came from Luca Marini, who finished 10th.

In Moto2 qualifying, Australian rider Senna Agius claimed pole position with a time of 1:34.576. The main race on Sunday was red-flagged twice due to early crashes. After a multi-rider incident involving Agius, David Alonso and Filip Salac on the third lap, the race was restarted. However, another crash between Sergio Garcia and Luca Lunetta in the first corners led to another red flag, reducing the total race distance to seven laps. In the restarted race, Manuel Gonzalez overtook Izan Guevara on the final lap to win. Guevara finished second and Daniel Holgado third.

In Moto3 qualifying, David Almansa set a new circuit record with a time of 1:40.088 to claim pole position. The main race on Sunday featured a tight battle for the lead that lasted until the final corner. Almansa won his first-ever Moto3 race by just 0.003 seconds over Maximo Quiles at the finish line. Quiles finished second and Argentine rider Valentin Perrone took third. Rookie rider Veda Pratama finished fifth in his debut championship race.

The second round of the 2026 MotoGP World Championship, the Brazilian Grand Prix, was held at the Autódromo Internacional Ayrton Senna in Goiânia, Brazil, between 19 and 22 March 2026. The event, staged on a 3.8-kilometre circuit, marked the first MotoGP race in Brazil since 2004 and the first ever in Goiânia since 1989. Over the course of the weekend, a total of 148,384 ticketed spectators attended the events, with 40,503 on Friday, 47,008 on Saturday, and 60,873 on Sunday.

Brazil last appeared on the MotoGP calendar in 2004 at the Jacarepaguá circuit in Rio de Janeiro, while the Goiânia circuit was first included in the event in 1987. After more than twenty years, the state government of Goiás invested approximately 200 million Brazilian Reais to bring the championship back to the country. As part of the renovation, the track’s asphalt was replaced with a more modern material, runoff areas were expanded for safety, and a fiber-optic telemetry infrastructure was installed. These investments are estimated to have generated an economic impact of 800 million Brazilian Reais for the region, with local hotel occupancy reaching 100 percent. The circuit, featuring the longest straight on the season’s calendar, is expected to allow motorcycles to reach speeds of up to 370 kilometres per hour.

Despite the upgrades, severe surface degradation occurred throughout the race weekend. The asphalt showed signs of fragmentation, exacerbated by recurring flooding in the region. On Saturday, a two-metre depression formed at the exit of the final corner and along the start-finish straight, prompting emergency repairs that delayed the sprint race by over an hour. Prior to the event, a smaller-scale test event called “Desafio dos Campeões” had been held on the track just two weeks earlier, revealing that the asphalt could not withstand international racing speeds.

In particular, between turns 11 and 12, asphalt fragmentation caused stones to be thrown up by rear wheels, resulting in injuries to following riders. As a result, Yamaha rider Alex Rins suffered swelling on his index finger, Enea Bastianini sustained shoulder damage, Joan Mir experienced a knee injury, and Alex Marquez developed abrasions on his arm. Additionally, the bumpy section at turn 4 contributed to multiple accidents throughout the weekend. The Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme and event officials announced after the race that the track’s asphalt would be completely reconfigured.

Friday’s practice sessions were held under rainy conditions. The Saturday sprint race, which began late due to track repairs, was won by Marc Marquez of the Ducati Lenovo team with a time of 19:41.98. Fabio Di Giannantonio of Pertamina VR46 Ducati finished second. Turkish rider Toprak Razgatlıoğlu completed the sprint race in 18th place.

Numerous riders suffered crashes during the race, influenced by the deteriorating track conditions. Jack Miller, competing in his 200th MotoGP race, crashed out on lap two. Later in the race, Francesco Bagnaia, Joan Mir, and Red Bull KTM rider Brad Binder were unable to reach the finish line due to accidents. Our representative Toprak Razgatlıoğlu finished the main race in 17th place.

The Moto2 World Championship race, held as part of the weekend schedule, consisted of 26 laps. Spain’s Daniel Holgado of the CFMOTO Inde Aspar team won the race. Turkish rider Deniz Öncü, competing with the ELF Marc VDS team, started from 18th position after qualifying and finished the race in 20th place.

Following the results in Goiânia, Marco Bezzecchi now leads the overall championship standings, 11 points ahead of Pedro Acosta. The third round of the championship, the United States Grand Prix, is scheduled for 27–29 March at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.

Fabio Di Giannantonio secured pole position during qualifying. Marco Bezzecchi finished the session in second place but received a two-grid-position penalty for impeding another rider during Q2, forcing him to start the race from fourth.Marc Marquez, who struggled with performance limits on his motorcycle throughout the weekend, completed qualifying in sixth position.

On lap four of the race, Jorge Martin began his ascent toward the front group, while Marco Bezzecchi crashed at Turn 11 and failed to finish the sprint race. Bagnaia held the lead until the final two laps but slowed due to rear tire performance degradation and was overtaken by Martin at Turn 12 on the final lap. Jorge Martin claimed his first sprint race victory for Aprilia, with Bagnaia finishing second and KTM rider Pedro Acosta third. Joan Mir crashed while battling Acosta for third place on the final lap and retired. After the race, Martin crashed while celebrating on one wheel during the cool-down lap but emerged unharmed.

At the start of the 20-lap main race on Sunday, Pedro Acosta gained strong momentum and took the lead. However, at Turn 11, contact occurred between Acosta, who ran wide, and Bezzecchi, who was on the inside line. Bezzecchi seized the lead immediately after the incident and maintained it for the remainder of the race, crossing the finish line first under the checkered flag. Jorge Martin followed closely behind his teammate to finish second, securing Aprilia’s second consecutive double podium finish. Pedro Acosta completed the podium in third place.

Following the United States Grand Prix, Marco Bezzecchi secured his fifth consecutive victory, extending a streak that began at the2025 Portuguese Grand Prixand includes the first three races of this season. This places him among the ranks of Valentino Rossi, Marc Marquez, Mick Doohan and Giacomo Agostini. Additionally, Bezzecchi surpassed Jorge Lorenzo’s 2015 record of 103 consecutive laps led, raising the record to 121 laps.

Bezzecchi became the first rider since Marc Marquez in 2014 to win the first three races of a season in succession.

Second place went to Aprilia Racing rider Marco Bezzecchi, while third place was taken by Alex Marquez, who started the race weekend in fifth but moved to the front row due to grid penalties affecting other riders.

With six laps to go, Alex Marquez overtook Marc Marquez in Turn 9 to take the lead. Shortly afterward, heavy rain triggered a chain of crashes in the leading group. According to a bulletin issued by the Race Direction at the start of the weekend, riders must not cross the continuous white inner line when entering or exiting the pit lane. It was determined that Marquez, after his crash, entered the pit lane directly from the grass area outside the track boundary, not the green zone, maintained the pit lane speed limit, and waited for other riders to pass before rejoining to avoid creating a dangerous situation. As there was no explicit rule prohibiting entry from outside the track boundary, race officials imposed no penalty or formal investigation.

The main Grand Prix, held on Sunday under dry conditions with an air temperature of 23°C and a track temperature of 36°C, consisted of 25 laps. Marc Marquez led from the start, followed by Marco Bezzecchi and Alex Marquez. In the second lap, Alex Marquez increased his pace, overtaking Bezzecchi and then passing Marc Marquez through the inside of Turn 6 to take the lead.

Later in the race, Marc Marquez suffered another crash at Turn 11 due to front-wheel loss of grip and retired from the race immediately after the first lap (DNF). Jorge Martin, starting from 10th, made a strong start and was overtaken by Fabio Di Giannantonio around lap four. Meanwhile, Alex Marquez, now alone at the front, extended his lead to approximately two seconds and maintained it until the finish.

Alex Marquez won the Spanish Grand Prix with a total time of 40 minutes 48.861 seconds, securing his fourth premier class victory in his career. He also recorded the fastest race lap. The detailed race results and time gaps for other riders were as follows:

Three riders failed to complete the main race due to various issues. Marc Marquez retired on lap two after a crash (+24 Laps). Aprilia’s test rider Lorenzo Savadori, suffering from neck pain stemming from a crash in Saturday’s sprint race, pulled into the garage on lap six (+19 Laps). Ducati factory rider Francesco Bagnaia retired on lap 13 due to a mechanical failure in the rear brake/power system and returned to the pit lane (+13 Laps).

Several riders reported mechanical and tactical issues during the race. Pedro Acosta collided with Raul Fernandez mid-race, losing the front right fairing, but continued the race with the damage. Augusto Fernandez suffered a rear brake failure early in the race. Jack Miller remained at the back due to a mistake during the opening lap and ongoing rear brake problems. Joan Mir received a double long lap penalty for violating the black-orange flag rule (warning for technical issues or failure to return to the pits) after a crash in qualifying, but still managed to finish 15th and score points.

With the conclusion of the Spanish Grand Prix, Aprilia’s championship leader Marco Bezzecchi saw his five-race winning streak (the final two races of last season and the first three of 2026) end at the hands of Alex Marquez. However, his second-place finish allowed him to maintain his points advantage in the overall standings. Bezzecchi extended his lead over closest rival Jorge Martin to 11 points. Consistent performer Fabio Di Giannantonio climbed to third in the championship. Marc Marquez, who won the sprint race but scored no points in the main race, dropped to fifth, 44 points behind the leader. Alex Marquez, who started the season poorly but recovered with a sprint win and a Sunday victory, moved to seventh in the rider standings with 25 full points. Honda’s 7th (Zarco), 13th (Marini), and 15th (Mir) finishes marked the team’s most productive weekend of the season to date.

The fifth round of the 2026 MotoGP World Championship, the French Grand Prix, was held at the 4.1-kilometer Bugatti Circuit in Le Mans, France. The weekend program consisted of qualifying sessions, a 15-lap sprint race, and a 27-lap main race. The event was notable for technical issues, crashes, and historic podium achievements.

The French Grand Prix qualifying sessions were held in two stages (Q1 and Q2). In the opening minutes of the 15-minute Q1 session, Enea Bastianini crashed but managed to continue. However, just before the session ended, Marc Marquez set a lap time of 1:29.288, breaking Quartararo’s 2025 track record of 1:29.324 and topping Q1. Fabio Quartararo qualified second and advanced to Q2. Prima Pramac Yamaha rider Toprak Razgatlıoğlu finished Q1 in seventh and earned a 17th-place starting position.

In Q2, competition intensified. Marco Bezzecchi initially led with a 1:29.825, but Marc Marquez took the lead with a 1:29.646. During this phase, Alex Marquez crashed at the Dunlop chicane, triggering yellow flags. In the final seconds, Francesco Bagnaia secured pole position with a time of 1:29.634. Marc Marquez qualified second and Marco Bezzecchi third. VR46 rider Fabio Di Giannantonio dropped to fourth after a wasp entered his helmet during his fast lap, causing a loss of concentration. Pedro Acosta qualified fifth, Fabio Quartararo sixth, Joan Mir seventh, and Jorge Martin eighth.

Starting from pole, Francesco Bagnaia lost the lead at the start. Jorge Martin, who began eighth, made a perfect launch and overtook Marco Bezzecchi in the first corner to take the lead. Fabio Di Giannantonio dropped to 14th at the start, while Toprak Razgatlıoğlu maintained his position.

On lap two, Luca Marini and Jonas Folger crashed. In the same lap, Pedro Acosta overtook Marc Marquez to move into fifth, and shortly after, Joan Mir also passed Marquez. Francesco Bagnaia overtook Bezzecchi to claim second. In Turn 3, Fabio Di Giannantonio retired, followed by Enea Bastianini and Raul Fernandez later in the race.

In the closing stages of the sprint race, Marc Marquez suffered a severe crash in Turn 14, fracturing his right leg. It was later revealed that instability in his riding was linked to a previous shoulder surgery, during which a screw had come into contact with a radial nerve. As a result, Marquez was ruled out of the main race and the upcoming Catalan Grand Prix.

Jorge Martin won the sprint race with a time of 19:46.830. Francesco Bagnaia finished second (+1.107), Marco Bezzecchi third (+2.786), Pedro Acosta fourth, and Fabio Quartararo fifth. Toprak Razgatlıoğlu finished 14th.

The 27-lap French Grand Prix main race began with Toprak Razgatlıoğlu starting on his wet-weather backup motorcycle due to a mechanical issue on his primary machine. The expected rain did not materialize during the race.

On lap two, Alex Marquez crashed heavily in Turn 3 and was carried into a gravel trap, retiring from the race. On lap three, Pedro Acosta overtook Fabio Quartararo to move into second. On lap seven, Francesco Bagnaia overtook Acosta after a three-corner battle to claim second. On lap eight, leader Marco Bezzecchi extended his lead to one second over the chasing group. On lap nine, Jorge Martin passed Fabio Di Giannantonio to move into fourth.

On lap 11, Ai Ogura overtook Fabio Quartararo to move into sixth, while Diogo Moreira crashed. On lap 16, championship contender Francesco Bagnaia lost control entering a corner and crashed out of the race. On lap 21, Joan Mir crashed and retired, while Ai Ogura passed Di Giannantonio to move into fourth. On lap 23, Ogura increased his pace, overtook Acosta, and moved into third.

In the final four laps, Jorge Martin launched consecutive attacks on his teammate Marco Bezzecchi and successfully took the lead. Martin won the main race with a time of 41:18.001. Marco Bezzecchi finished second, and Ai Ogura of Trackhouse Racing took third. With this result, Aprilia became the first team in its history to sweep all three podium positions. Fabio Di Giannantonio finished fourth, Pedro Acosta fifth, and Fabio Quartararo sixth.

Toprak Razgatlıoğlu overtook Franco Morbidelli on the penultimate lap to move into 13th and finished just 0.1 seconds behind Alex Rins. Choosing soft front and rear tires, Razgatlıoğlu experienced significant front-tire wear in the closing stages but achieved his best-ever MotoGP result, earning three points. He stated that he had learned from his teammate Fabio Quartararo’s setup and planned to adopt a similar approach in the next race.

As part of the French Grand Prix event, the fifth round of the Moto2 World Championship was also held. Turkish rider Deniz Öncü, competing for Red Bull Elf Marc VDS, finished 14th after starting from 21st. The race was won by Spanish rider Izan Guevara, riding for Pramac Yamaha.

In the paddock, strategic moves for the 2027 season were reported. Fabio Di Giannantonio reached an agreement with the factory KTM team, which increased his annual salary to two million euros, and will be teammates with Alex Marquez in 2027. Following this departure, VR46 was reportedly considering Nicolo Bulega or Luca Marini to fill the vacant seat. Meanwhile, Davide Brivio, team principal of Trackhouse Racing MotoGP, was confirmed to leave his role and join Honda HRC as a consultant for the 2027 season.

2026 MotoGP World Championship’s seventh round, the Grand Prix of Italy, was held at the 5.2-kilometre Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello circuit in Scarperia e San Piero, a town in the Tuscany region of Italy, between 29 and 31 May 2026. As part of the event, MotoGP free practice sessions, qualifying rounds, the sprint race, and the main 23-lap race were conducted alongside Moto2 category races.

During the weekend’s practice sessions, the competition between Aprilia and Ducati teams stood out. Aprilia rider Marco Bezzecchi recorded a time of 1:46.191 over a six-lap stint on medium compound tyres, placing him among the fastest riders. Ducati Lenovo Team rider Francesco Bagnaia, despite experiencing a low-speed crash at Turn 1 during the first free practice session, reported improved front-end turn-in performance on his GP26 motorcycle compared to the previous year. Fabio Di Giannantonio, racing for Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team, expressed satisfaction with his Ducati motorcycle during practice sessions despite lingering physical effects from a finger injury sustained in earlier races. During practice, motor issues caused Brad Binder of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing to park his bike in the middle of the straight, resulting in KTM machines being restricted to limited power output on track.

In qualifying, Marco Bezzecchi set the fastest time of 01:43.921, securing pole position for both the main race and the sprint race. Toprak Razgatlıoğlu, racing for Prima Pramac Yamaha, crashed during qualifying and therefore started both races from 20th position.

The MotoGP sprint race, held on Saturday 30 May 2026, was won by Spanish rider Raul Fernandez of Trackhouse Racing with a time of 19 minutes 28.408 seconds, marking his first career sprint victory. Francesco Bagnaia, who dropped out of the top ten at the start, moved up to seventh by overtaking KTM rider Pedro Acosta on the final lap. Trackhouse rider Ai Ogura finished eighth and Acosta ninth, both earning points. Toprak Razgatlıoğlu completed the sprint race in 17th place, 25.423 seconds behind the leader.

The main race, which began at 15:00 Turkish Standard Time on Sunday 31 May 2026, covered 23 laps. It started under track conditions of 49°C and air temperature of 27°C, with all riders opting for medium compound tyres on both front and rear wheels.

At the start, Jorge Martin took the lead, but Marco Bezzecchi reclaimed the position before the end of the first lap. At the beginning of the second lap, Francesco Bagnaia overtook both Martin and Bezzecchi to assume the race lead. In the middle stages of the race, Enea Bastianini crashed at Turn 10 and retired (DNF). Castrol Honda LCR rider Cal Crutchlow and Yamaha rider Alex Rins were among other riders who failed to finish.

With ten laps remaining, Bezzecchi launched an attack on Bagnaia and regained the lead. In subsequent laps, Bagnaia was also overtaken by Jorge Martin. In the final laps, a close battle for fourth place developed between Ai Ogura and Pedro Acosta, with both riders remaining on their bikes throughout the duel.

Marco Bezzecchi of Aprilia Racing won the race with a time of 40 minutes 57.347 seconds. His teammate Jorge Martin finished second, 3.559 seconds behind, giving Aprilia a 1–2 finish on home soil. Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati Lenovo Team completed the podium in third, 5.098 seconds behind the winner.

Ai Ogura, who started 13th, finished fourth. Fabio Di Giannantonio, who started seventh, was caught in a collision between Fermin Aldeguer and Diogo Moreira during the first uphill section, forcing him to lift off the throttle and drop to 12th. He later fought his way back into the top five to finish fifth. Pedro Acosta came sixth and Marc Marquez seventh. The 8th race of the 2026 MotoGP season, the Hungarian Grand Prix, was held at the 4.08-kilometre Balaton Park Circuit near Budapest, the capital of Hungary, between 5 and 7 June 2026. The main race, consisting of 26 laps, was won by Marc Marquez of the Ducati Lenovo team, who finished in first place. This race is recorded in the statistics as the one in which Marquez achieved his 100th Grand Prix victory across all classes.

On Saturday of the race weekend, Marc Marquez finished first in the sprint race. During the warm-up session on Sunday morning, Fermin Aldeguer of BK8 Gresini Ducati recorded the fastest lap time of 1:37.68. Marc Marquez secured pole position for the main race.

Shortly after the race start, a major chain reaction crash occurred in the first corner. Jorge Martin of Aprilia Racing, starting from eighth position, lost control of his motorcycle during braking and collided with his teammate and championship leader Marco Bezzecchi. The resulting chain reaction involved Fermin Aldeguer, Raul Fernandez and Fabio Di Giannantonio. As a result of the crash, Bezzecchi, Martin, Fernandez and Aldeguer were forced to retire, while Di Giannantonio returned to the track and rejoined the race from the last position.

Following the incident, Martin and Bezzecchi underwent medical checks at the on-site medical centre and were found to have no fractures. It was confirmed that both riders had sustained only bruises and contusions. The FIM MotoGP stewards reviewed the incident and imposed a double long lap penalty on Jorge Martin, to be served at the next round in Brno, Czech Republic. Aprilia Racing CEO Massimo Rivola, in an official statement after the crash, stated that the fault lay entirely with Martin and described the incident as “a mistake a world champion should not make.” Rider Diogo Moreira noted that braking into the first corner in Hungary is already challenging and that the start devices increased the likelihood of such a crash.

After the first corner crash, Marc Marquez and Pedro Acosta of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing broke away from the rest of the front group to battle for the lead. Acosta, the only rider among the top two starters to choose the soft compound rear tyre, overtook Marquez, who was on the medium compound, at turn five of lap two to take the race lead. Acosta extended his lead to over one second in the following laps.

By the midpoint of the race, Marquez had closed the gap to Acosta and applied pressure. On lap 14, Marquez made a move through the chicane at turns nine and ten to take the lead, but Acosta immediately reclaimed the position at turn 12. The two riders made contact in the final corner, with Acosta finishing the lap in the lead. On lap 15, at turn nine, Marquez launched another chicane attack and this time completed a permanent overtaking, quickly establishing a one-second gap which he maintained until the finish.

Marc Marquez crossed the finish line first with a time of 42 minutes 55.325 seconds to win the Hungarian Grand Prix. Pedro Acosta finished second, 1.343 seconds behind, while Ducati Lenovo rider Francesco Bagnaia claimed third place on the podium, 11.632 seconds behind the winner. Fourth place went to Ai Ogura of the Trackhouse Aprilia team and fifth to Luca Marini of the Honda HRC team.

Diogo Moreira of LCR finished sixth, while Iker Lecuona of Gresini Racing completed the race in seventh. Jack Miller of Pramac Yamaha secured eighth place. Enea Bastianini, who made contact with Joan Mir after running off the track at the first corner, served his long lap penalty and finished ninth. Brad Binder completed the top ten. Turkish rider Toprak Razgatlıoğlu of Pramac Yamaha, who started from 18th, finished 11th, 25.135 seconds behind the leader. Fabio Di Giannantonio, who returned to the race after the opening lap crash, finished 12th.

Several incidents and penalties were recorded during the race. Honda rider Joan Mir crashed at turn eleven of lap 15 and retired from the race. Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo failed to finish due to technical issues. Tech3 rider Maverick Vinales received a 16-second time penalty after the race for a low tyre pressure violation but retained his 15th position and points.

This victory marked Marc Marquez’s first Grand Prix win since Misano 2025. With this win, Marquez became the third rider in MotoGP history to achieve 100 Grand Prix victories across all classes, following Giacomo Agostini (122) and Valentino Rossi (115).

The Czech Grand Prix was held from 19 to 21 June 2026 in Brno, Czechia, as the ninth round of the 2026 MotoGP World Championship. The main race, consisting of 21 laps over the 5.4-kilometre Brno Circuit, was won by Ducati Lenovo rider Marc Marquez, who finished in first place. Throughout the event, the sprint race, qualifying sessions, and the main race were overshadowed by a physical altercation between championship leader Marco Bezzecchi and a track official, which resulted in Bezzecchi’s disqualification.

Several riders’ health conditions affected the entry list before and during the weekend. LCR Honda rider Johann Zarco missed this round due to a knee ligament injury and was replaced by Cal Crutchlow. Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing), who suffered a collarbone and spinal fracture at the Catalan Grand Prix, attempted to return in Brno but withdrew from the weekend after Friday and Saturday sessions due to ongoing injuries.

Trackhouse Aprilia rider Raul Fernandez was diagnosed with appendicitis midweek. Although surgery was avoided, his physical condition declined during practice sessions. In qualifying, Japanese rider Ai Ogura of Trackhouse Aprilia set a new circuit record with a time of 1 minute 51.139 seconds to claim his first-ever MotoGP pole position. The front row was completed by Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina VR46 Ducati), 0.211 seconds behind, and Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo), 0.244 seconds behind.

Championship leader Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) qualified fourth, while Marc Marquez secured fifth after his initial lap time was deleted for exceeding track limits. Jorge Martin, who received a double long lap penalty for causing a multi-rider crash at the previous race in Hungary, advanced from Q1 to finish tenth. Prima Pramac Yamaha rider Toprak Razgatlıoğlu was penalised three grid positions for impeding Enea Bastianini by slowing on the racing line during Q1. However, as he qualified 21st, the penalty resulted in only a one-position drop, and he started the race from 22nd place.

The sprint race, held on Saturday over 10 laps in ambient temperatures reaching 50 degrees Celsius, featured 21 riders. Of the top ten on the grid, only Francesco Bagnaia, Marc Marquez, and Diogo Moreira opted for the soft rear tyre compound.

Starting from third, Bagnaia took the lead into the first corner. After the opening laps, he extended his lead over Ogura to 1.1 seconds. Despite Ogura closing the gap to under 0.4 seconds in the final four laps, Bagnaia held on to win his first sprint race of the 2026 season with a time of 18 minutes 55.527 seconds. Ai Ogura finished second, 0.241 seconds behind, and Marc Marquez was third, 0.794 seconds behind. Jorge Martin, who did not serve his double long lap penalty in this sprint race, finished fifth.

Diogo Moreira, Maverick Vinales, Luca Marini, and Cal Crutchlow crashed out during the sprint race. Red Bull KTM rider Pedro Acosta also retired after a mechanical issue with his ride height device failed to disengage, leading to a crash.

On the penultimate lap of the sprint race, championship leader Marco Bezzecchi crashed in turn three while running fifth. After the crash, he made physical contact with track official Ladislav, who was attempting to move the motorcycle. Footage showed Bezzecchi shoving the official and striking him twice on the face. The official later stated that he had pressed the clutch to lift the bike while it was still running, causing the engine to rev. He believed Bezzecchi misinterpreted this as intentional and reacted under stress.

Following the incident, the FIM MotoGP Stewards convened and ruled that Bezzecchi’s actions fell under FIM Regulations Article 3.3.2.2: “action prejudicial to the interests of the sport.” As a result, Bezzecchi was disqualified from the Sunday main race. Aprilia appealed the decision, but the Appeal Stewards upheld the original ruling, stating that “the disappointment and emotional intensity following the crash could not justify a physical assault on official track personnel.” Bezzecchi personally met with the track official on Sunday morning and issued a public statement acknowledging that his actions had no justification. He apologised to Aprilia, his fans, and the MotoGP community.

The main race, held on Sunday over 21 laps, took place without Bezzecchi. Starting from pole, Ai Ogura retained the lead into the first corner, followed by Bagnaia and Marquez. However, on lap two, Bagnaia overtook Ogura at turn ten to take the lead, and shortly after, at turn thirteen, Marquez passed Ogura to move into second place.

On lap four, Bagnaia extended his lead over Marquez to half a second. By lap ten, Marquez had closed the gap to the rear wheel of Bagnaia, while Ogura continued to set the fastest lap times and remained in pursuit of the leading pair. With six laps remaining (lap 16), Marc Marquez overtook Bagnaia at turn four to take the lead for the first time in the race. Bagnaia, losing pace, was passed by Ogura one lap later (lap 17).

On the final lap, Ogura reduced the gap to Marquez to 0.5 seconds but could not overtake. Marc Marquez won the race with a total time of 39 minutes 51.297 seconds, securing his second consecutive victory and increasing his total wins in the 2026 season. Ai Ogura finished second, 0.421 seconds behind, and Francesco Bagnaia came third, 2.255 seconds behind.

Fabio Di Giannantonio finished fourth after passing Pedro Acosta on lap 13. Honda rider Joan Mir, who opted for the soft rear tyre unlike his teammate Luca Marini, managed tyre performance effectively to finish fifth. Fermin Aldeguer was sixth, Raul Fernandez seventh, and Luca Marini eighth. Jorge Martin, serving his double long lap penalty, finished ninth, and Enea Bastianini completed the top ten. Pedro Acosta, running fifth in the final lap, retired due to a technical failure that caused his motorcycle to shut down. Yamaha riders Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins also failed to finish the main race due to technical and electronic issues.

After the Czech Grand Prix, Marco Bezzecchi remained the championship leader with 180 points despite failing to score, though his lead over the riders behind him has significantly narrowed.

Immediately after the Czech Grand Prix, on Monday, tests were conducted at the Brno circuit on new prototype motorcycles with 850cc engines and Pirelli tyres, designed to meet the 2027 regulations. KTM used its rookie rider Pedro Acosta and test rider Dani Pedrosa. Honda assigned Joan Mir and Luca Marini, whose contracts for 2027 have not been renewed, to provide feedback on the development of the new-generation machines.

The Dutch Grand Prix, the tenth round of the 2026 MotoGP World Championship, took place from 26 to 28 June 2026 at the historic TT Circuit Assen in Assen, Netherlands. The race, consisting of 26 laps over the 4.5-kilometre circuit, was won by Japanese rider Ai Ogura of the SuperFile Trackhouse Racing team. In the main race on Sunday, which covered 26 laps, Ai Ogura made a strong start and took the lead into the first corner. However, Jorge Martin immediately reclaimed the position and assumed the lead.

On lap two, Marco Bezzecchi, who entered the weekend as championship leader, crashed at Turn 15 while running in fourth place at approximately 200 km/h. The Italian rider, whose motorcycle bounced across the gravel trap, was forced to retire. He was transported to the medical centre while conscious and later transferred to a local hospital for comprehensive checks. No major neurological or physical injuries were detected, but he was reported to be experiencing severe pain.

Several riders retired consecutively during the middle stages of the race due to mechanical and physical issues. On lap 13, Red Bull KTM rider Pedro Acosta, running in sixth place, retired after suffering a physical problem in his right arm—believed to be carpal tunnel or forearm pump. On the same lap, Prima Pramac Yamaha rider Toprak Razgatlıoğlu, who had climbed from 22nd to 10th, retired due to a mechanical failure on his motorcycle. On lap 15, Ducati rider Pecco Bagnaia, running in fourth, failed to finish after experiencing brake problems.

With this result, Ogura became the first Japanese rider to win a MotoGP race since Makoto Tamada in 2004—22 years later.

Raul Fernandez of Trackhouse Aprilia finished second, 2.004 seconds behind the winner. Jorge Martin of the factory Aprilia team completed the podium in third place, 3.512 seconds behind Ogura.

Fourth place went to VR46 rider Fabio Di Giannantonio, fifth to Gresini rider Alex Marquez, and sixth to Tech3 rider Enea Bastianini. Although Marc Marquez of Ducati finished the race in sixth place, he was penalised after the race for exceeding track limits during a battle with Fabio Di Giannantonio on the final lap, resulting in a one-position drop and an official classification of seventh.

KTM rider Brad Binder, who finished ninth, and Yamaha rider Augusto Fernandez, who finished 15th, were both handed 16-second time penalties after the race for violating tyre pressure regulations. As a result, Binder dropped to 11th place. Only 16 riders completed the race; Pecco Bagnaia, Toprak Razgatlıoğlu, Pedro Acosta, Franco Morbidelli, Marco Bezzecchi and Joan Mir were among those who failed to finish.

Following the Dutch GP, the lead in the riders’ championship changed hands. Jorge Martin, who finished third, increased his points total to 193 to take the championship lead. Marco Bezzecchi, who crashed and scored no points, dropped to second with 186 points. Fabio Di Giannantonio is third with 177 points, race winner Ai Ogura is fourth with 168 points, and Marc Marquez is fifth with 153 points. Turkish rider Toprak Razgatlıoğlu stands 21st in the overall standings with 11 points.

The severe crashes at Turns 11 and 15 during the weekend—involved Fermin Aldeguer, Alex Marquez and Marco Bezzecchi—sparked renewed debate over the safety conditions of TT Circuit Assen, particularly its gravel traps. Riders including Marc Marquez and Luca Marini highlighted that motorcycles entering gravel traps at high speed often become airborne and perform cartwheels, calling for official reviews and structural modifications to improve safety standards in run-off areas.
