Abdullah Gül University (AGU) was established in Kayseri on July 21, 2010 as Turkey's first foundation-supported public university. The establishment process was initiated in 2007 under the leadership of Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, and the university was named after the 11th President, Abdullah Gül. AGU, which admitted its first students in the 2013-2014 academic year, continues its educational activities at the Sümer Campus. This campus was created by transforming the Sümerbank Cloth Factory, one of the first and largest industrial campuses of the Republic of Turkey, into an educational campus.

Academic Units and Programs

The language of instruction at AGU is English and the university has five faculties and several institutes:

Faculty of Engineering: Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Nanotechnology Engineering

Faculty of Life and Natural Sciences: Bioengineering, Molecular Biology and Genetics

Faculty of Architecture Architecture

Faculty of Management Sciences: Business, Economics

Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences: Psychology, Political Science and International Relations

There are also the Institutes of Science and Social Sciences and the School of Foreign Languages.

Campus and Infrastructure

Sümer Campus, the main campus of AGU, is located close to Kayseri city center and was created by the transformation of the historical Sümerbank Cloth Factory. The campus offers students a comprehensive living space with its educational buildings, student dormitories and social areas. The construction of the Mimar Sinan Campus, planned as the second campus of the university, is ongoing. There is also a library on the Sümer Campus, which provides a research and study environment where students can continue their academic studies.

Education and Research

AGU conducts its education and research activities with an interdisciplinary approach. The university aims to provide its students with education at international standards and make scientific contributions through research projects. The School of Foreign Languages supports students to improve their English proficiency and offers them the opportunity to learn a second foreign language.
