Academy Entrance Exam (AEE)

The Academic Entrance Exam (AGS) is a centralized examination administered by the Ministry of National Education (MNE) in Türkiye for admission to academic positions and teacher training programs. Organized by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM), this exam aims to assess candidates’ levels in educational sciences, subject-specific knowledge and general ability.

Purpose of the Exam

The AGS is conducted to evaluate the academic competencies of prospective teachers in Türkiye and to identify candidates seeking admission to faculties of education. It is also used to support current teachers in advancing their academic careers.

Eligible Groups for AGS

• Candidates wishing to pursue teacher training at faculties of education,

• Current teachers and educators seeking academic career to do,

• Graduates wishing to enroll in pedagogical formation programs,

• Candidates meeting other criteria set by the Ministry of National Education.

AGS Content and Format

The AGS is conducted in two sessions:

1. General Ability and General Culture Test

• Covers topics in Turkish, Mathematics, Social Sciences and Natural Sciences.

• Evaluates candidates’ fundamental information and judgment skills.

2. Subject-Specific Knowledge Test (Linked to ÖABT)

• Includes educational sciences, pedagogical formation and instruction methods within the scope of teaching subject knowledge.

• Measures subject-specific knowledge tailored for prospective teachers.

The exam consists of multiple-choice questions and wrong incorrect answers do not penalize correct ones.

AGS Score Types and Applications

• AGS-P1: A score type based on the General Ability and General Culture test, used for admission to undergraduate programs.

• AGS-P2: A score type based on the Subject-Specific Knowledge test, used for academic career advancement and teaching applications.

Validity Period of AGS Scores

• AGS scores are valid for three years from the date of the exam.

• Candidates may select their highest score achieved within this duration.

Application to AGS

• Applications are submitted online through ÖSYM’s Candidate Operations System (AİS).

• Application fees are determined by ÖSYM and paid via banks or online payment systems.

• Exam dates and application procedures are announced on the official websites of ÖSYM and MNE.
