Adıyaman University (ADYÜ)

Adıyaman University (ADYÜ) is a public university established on 17 March 2006 by Law No. 5467. The institution is located in the city center of Adıyaman in the Southeastern Anatolia Region. The university, which comprises fourteen faculties one institute one college one conservatory and six vocational schools has focused its core activities on higher education scientific research and regional development.

The establishment of Adıyaman University was based on the consolidation of units that previously operated under different higher education institutions within the boundaries of Adıyaman province. During its formation the Adıyaman Faculty of Theology the Adıyaman Faculty of Education the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and the Health College under İnönü University along with the Adıyaman Gölbaşı Besni and Kâhta Vocational Schools under Gaziantep University were integrated into Adıyaman University by Law No. 5467.

The university conducts its educational and research activities across campuses spread throughout the city center and districts of Adıyaman.

• Central Campus: The Central Campus located in the Altınşehir Neighborhood of Adıyaman is the main campus housing administrative buildings the majority of faculties the institute the library social facilities and sports areas.

• District Campuses: The vocational schools in Besni Gölbaşı and Kâhta districts deliver their educational programs from their own campuses.

The university admits students based on results of the centralized examinations conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). As of 2022 the university had a total of 17 082 students enrolled.^【1】

The university also provides educational opportunities to international students within the framework of its internationalization policies.

Adıyaman University offers undergraduate and associate degree programs through its faculties and vocational schools.

Undergraduate programs are delivered by faculties and colleges. The Faculty of Education offers programs in Arabic Language Teaching Science Education Elementary Mathematics Teaching Preschool Teaching Special Education Guidance and Psychological Counseling Primary School Teaching and Turkish Language Teaching.

Programs offered by the Faculty of Arts and Sciences include Archaeology Biology English Language and Literature (in English) Mathematics Psychology Art History Sociology and History.

In the field of engineering the university offers programs in Computer Engineering Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Civil Engineering as well as a Textile Engineering program at the Besni Campus.

Health-related programs are offered by the Faculties of Dentistry Pharmacy and Medicine as well as by the Faculty of Health Sciences which includes Nursing Nursing (Besni) and Midwifery Midwifery (Besni).

The Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences offers programs in Economics Business Administration Political Science and Public Administration with the Business Administration program also available at the Besni Campus.

Other undergraduate programs include Gastronomy and Culinary Arts and Tourism Guiding at the Faculty of Tourism Islamic Theology and Islamic Sciences at the respective faculties and Garden Crops and Plant Protection at the Faculty of Agriculture (Kâhta).

Associate degree programs are conducted through six vocational schools to meet the mid-level workforce needs of industry and service sectors. The Health Services Vocational School offers programs in Child Development First Aid and Emergency Care Opticianry Pathology Laboratory Techniques and Medical Laboratory Techniques.

The Technical Sciences Vocational School offers technical programs in Computer Programming Electricity Food Technology Clothing Production Technology Construction Technology Chemical Technology Machinery Architectural Decorative Arts Furniture and Decoration and Drilling Technology.

The Social Sciences Vocational School offers programs in Culinary Arts Foreign Trade Business Management Cooperativism Accounting and Tax Applications Private Security and Protection Marketing and Tourism and Hotel Management.

The Besni Ali Erdemoğlu Gölbaşı and Kâhta Vocational Schools offer district-specific programs including Information Management Computer Programming Office Management and Executive Assistance Occupational Health and Safety Logistics Mechatronics Local Governance Field Crops Horticulture and Cartography and Cadastre.

Adıyaman University implements international exchange programs in line with its internationalization goals. Student and staff mobility is encouraged through the Erasmus+ and Mevlana Exchange Programs. In addition the university establishes bilateral cooperation agreements with universities in different countries to carry out joint research projects and academic activities.

The university holds various certificates and awards recognizing its academic and administrative achievements.

To ensure the quality of its institutional processes the university obtained the ISO 9001 Quality Management System Certificate for the periods 2015–2018 and 2018–2021.^【2】 It was officially registered with a Brand Registration Certificate in 2018. In 2019 the university was awarded the Disability-Free University Awards.^【3】

The university implements its institutional objectives within the framework of its Internationalization Policy Document. Faculty members’ scientific projects are supported by TÜBİTAK while students achieve rankings in national technology competitions and sporting events.^【4】

Adıyaman University provides students with facilities on campus to support their academic and social development. Student clubs operating within the university enable students to organize activities in the fields of science art sports and social responsibility. The Central Library offers research opportunities through its collection of printed and electronic resources. Campus facilities include sports venues cafeterias and social areas. Accommodation options in the city are supported through dormitories managed by the Credit and Hostels General Directorate (KYK).
