
Ahmet Nureddin Efendi was born in 1887 in Çürüksu (now within the borders of Georgia, in the area of Kobuleti), and held political and religious roles during the late Ottoman period and the early years of the Republic. He participated in the Sivas Congress as a delegate from Bursa and served as a member of parliament for Batum during the First Term of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye in 1920. It is also known that he worked as a teacher at the Darü’l-Hilafeti’l-Aliyye Medresesi.
Ahmet Nureddin Efendi, born in 1887 in Çürüksu, was the son of Hahutzâde Mahmut Efendi. His name appears in various sources as “Hahutzâde Mahmut Ahmet Nurettin,” “Hahutzâde Ahmet Nurettin Efendi,” and “Hahutaşvili Ahmet (Nuri) Nurettin Efendi.” Although detailed information about his education is unavailable, it is documented that he served as a teacher at the Darü’l-Hilafeti’l-Aliyye Medresesi.
Ahmet Nureddin Efendi participated in the Sivas Congress, held between 4 and 11 September 1919, as a delegate from Bursa. This congress was a crucial step in implementing decisions made during the National Struggle.
In 1920, he was elected as a member of parliament for Batum to the First Term of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye. His arrival in the Assembly occurred amid the uncertain political situation of Batum. At the time of his participation, he was 33 years old and recorded as one of the youngest members. He had the opportunity to exercise his right to protest during the Moscow Treaty negotiations alongside other Batum deputies but did not participate in the voting.
He served on the Assembly’s Committees on Sharia and Waqfs, Posts, Telegraphs and Telephones, and Legislation. It is also recorded that he submitted a proposal concerning the discharge and promotion of reserve officers.
