Location and General Information

Mount Akdağ, located in the Ladik district of Samsun, is a striking natural feature with an elevation of 1597 metres. It lies within the interior regions of Black Sea Region as part of the Canik Mountains range. Its geographical position places it within the interior of the Black Sea Region and as a component of the Canik Mountains. This location directly influences the mountain’s climate and plant cover. Due to its high altitude, summers are cool and rainy while winters are very cold and snow snowy, creating ideal conditions for a ski resort.

Climate and Vegetation

A climate characterized by cool, rainy summers and cold, snowy winters prevails due to its high elevation. The slopes are predominantly covered with coniferous trees, especially various species of pine, while broadleaf trees are found at lower altitudes. This diversity supports a rich ecosystem.

The vegetation of Mount Akdağ is particularly rich, with coniferous trees, especially pine species, dominating the slopes. At lower elevations, broadleaf trees can also be observed. This variety lends has a unique ecosystem to the region and provides habitat for various animal species. The ski resort operates typically between December and April, serving as a premier destination for important sports. It offers mechanical facilities such as chairlifts and ski lifts, slopes suited to different difficulty levels, and equipment rental services.

Accommodation options are available in the Ladik district center and at some facilities near the mountain. Ladik, located approximately 80 km from the city center of city, is easily accessible by bus or private vehicle. From Ladik, minibuses or private vehicles provide access to the Akdağ Ski Resort.
