Akköy Dam

The Akköy Dam, located in the Yeşilhisar district of Kayseri Province on the Asarcık Creek, was completed between 1964 and 1967 as an irrigation dam. It was developed to support agricultural activities in the region by efficiently utilizing water resources to irrigate farmland.

Akköy I HPP is constructed on the Harşit Creek in the Kürtün district of Gümüşhane Province. This power plant is one of the key projects developed to meet Türkiye’s energy demands.

Akköy II Hydroelectric Power Plant and Dams

Akköy II HPP is a large-scale hydroelectric project located in Gümüşhane alongside Akköy I HPP, comprising three dams that collectively enable large-scale energy production. The Aladereçam, Gökçebel, and Yaşmaklı dams operate in tandem to generate significant electricity.

• Generator Capacity: 2 x 135 MVA.
• Annual Generation Capacity: 872.5 GWh.
• Maximum Head: 1,220 metres (highest in Türkiye, among the top 10 worldwide).
• Commercial Operation Dates: 7 June 2012 (first unit), 5 July 2012 (second unit).
